Apply now.\nShift Hours: 4:00 pm - 2:30 am\nDays: Monday - Thursday\n(Training Hours: 5:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Thursday)\nStarting Wage $22.68/hr +$1.50 shift differential\nA Brief Summary of This Position\nThe Crane Operator is an Individual Contributor responsible for the operation of overhead bridge cranes. The incumbent is responsible securing loads and moving suspended loads throughout the department by operating the remote-controlled bridge cranes.\nEssential Functions:\nDetermine load weights and check them against lifting capacities in order to prevent overload\nUse remotes (speed and direction control buttons) to operate cranes for lifting, moving, and placing loads\nInspect cables and grappling devices for wear\nInspect crane mechanisms and lifting accessories in order to prevent malfunctions and damage\nReview daily work and delivery schedules to determine orders, sequences of deliveries, and special loading instructions\nA thorough knowledge of rigging and moving procedures and practices are essential to ensure safety and quality of product\nKeep other workers supplied with materials, tools and supplies\nSet up and operate a variety of grinding machines; grind metal work pieces according to knowledge of grinding procedures\nAbility to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE)\nOther duties as required and/or assigned\nImportant Details about the Role\nMake mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery\nSetup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment\nAccountable and responsible for essential tools and equipment provided along with the maintenance of these tools and equipment\nActively participates in department safety, demonstrates excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures\nThis position reports to the Production Supervisor\nRequired Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)\nThe ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings\nAbility to become Valmont trained and certified overhead crane\nThe ability to read a tape measure\nThe ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues\nThe ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people\nThe ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions\nThe ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment\nThe ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, although most frequent lift is up to 20 pounds\nHigh awareness for safety at all times\nWear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow facility safety regulations\nMaintain a safe and productive working environment\nHighly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications\nHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent\nOne (1) year previous experience operating overhead bridge crane\nOne (1) year previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment\nThe ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner\nDemonstrate a commitment to Safety through excellent safety practices and behaviors by conforming to all Valmont safety policies and procedures\nMust be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results\nWorking Conditions & Physical Efforts:\nWork is primarily performed in an indoor shop environment. This position will be exposed to all hazards located at manufacturing sites including noise, fumes, excessive heat/cold, dust, welding arc, all chemicals associated with the manufacturing areas, smoke and confined spaces. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. The job requires safety glasses, hearing protection, and metatarsal safety shoes be worn at all times. The employee must be able to spend the entire work shift on their feet within the shop environment. The incumbent must also be able to wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) for working in the production facility.\nHazards:\nThis job requires handling metal objects some of which have sharp edges.
