Apply now.\n2nd Shift (4:00 pm - 2:30 am; M-Th)\nStarting Wage $22.68/hr + $1.50 shift differential\nThe Machine Operator is an Individual Contributor responsible for the setup and operation of various pieces of equipment, including a straightener to straighten and square pole shafts, cutting equipment/machinery to ensure poles meet final length and diameter, press brake to form product and material handling equipment.\nEssential Functions\nResponsible for machine set up, including setting rollers to specified lengths, and verifying dimensions from shop drawings\nObserve operation and periodically verify conformance of machined work to process sheet, specifications and blueprint data\nMaintain the cleanliness of work area including all equipment and machinery\nUse overhead crane to load/unload machinery\nAbility to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature controlled environment and outdoors\nOther duties as required and/or assigned\nImportant Details about the Role\nSetup, operate, and perform general maintenance of equipment without difficulty\nMake mathematical calculations in preparing product or setting up the machinery\nRead and decipher blueprints and flat sheets without assistance\nAccountable and responsible for essential tools and equipment provided along with the maintenance of these tools and equipment\nActively participates in department safety, demonstrates excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures\nThis position reports to the Production Supervisor\nRequired Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)\nThe ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings\nThe ability to become Valmont trained and certified in the operation of an overhead crane\nThe ability to read a tape measure\nThe ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues\nThe ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people\nThe ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions\nThe ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment\nThe ability to lift up to 50 pounds, with most frequent lift up to 20 pounds\nHigh awareness for safety at all times\nWear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required in the production facility\nRead blueprints and specifications\nMaintain a safe and productive working environment\nHighly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications\nHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent\nOne (1) year of previous experience in a heavy manufacturing or fabrication environment\nOne (1) year of previous experience with overhead crane operations\nThe ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner\nDemonstrate a commitment to Safety through excellent safety practices and behaviors by conforming to all Valmont safety policies and procedures\nMust be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results\nBenefits\nValmont offers employees and their families a comprehensive Total Wellbeing benefit package to ensure their individual and family’s overall wellness needs are met.
