Apply now.\nThis is a 2nd Shift Position.\nEssential Functions:\nResponsible for testing and evaluation, with absolute integrity, of products to ensure conformance to company and customer specifications\nMakes decision in the area of codes (includes AWS D1.1) and specifications.\nInterprets reports for NDT and quality acceptance.\nActively mentors Entry level NDT Inspectors, which includes monitoring and documenting OJT progress\nHas the authority to reject material, stop work in process etc. to minimize financial loss and risk of customer dissatisfaction.\nWorks under production conditions with accurate performance and completion of work within set time limits\nAccountable and responsible for essential tools and equipment provided along with the maintenance of these tools, to include calibration\nActively participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures\nMaintain timely and consistent attendance\nThis position reports to the Quality Manager has no direct reports\nRequired Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):\nA high awareness for safety at all times.\nHigh School diploma and 5+ years of work/educational experience or Associates Degree with 2+ years’ experience or Bachelor’s Degree\n2 years’ experience in fabricated steel environment\nAbility to perform basic mathematic calculations, including conversion of fractions to decimals\nAbility to use basic measuring tools, such as tape measure, calipers, fillet weld gauges, and levels (digital and conventional) to ensure dimensional accuracy.\nLevel II NDT certifications or be able to obtain Level II certification within agreed upon time by Valmont\nAbility to operate NDT testing equipment.\nAbility to work effectively with plant employees, supervisors, management and customers. \nAbility to prioritize work in order to complete deadlines. Must also be able to work through problem with the minimum amount of assistance from the lead person or supervisor.\nAbility to work timely and expeditiously to deliver an on-time result without errors.\nA strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook\nHighly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:\n6 years experience in fabricated steel environment\nAssociate Degree in NDT from an accredited school\nSNT-TC-1A NDT Level II in UT, VT, MT, and PT\nAWS CWI certification\nCompetence in basic quality assurance disciplines including the use of dimensional inspection and gauging equipment\nOther AWS professional certifications\nPassion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional result\nWorking Environment and Physical Efforts:\nWork is typically performed in a manufacturing plant environment and the incumbent needs to be able to move about the office, shipping area and all areas of the plant which are producing product line for the company. There is a relatively constant exposure to somewhat disagreeable work conditions such as dust, dirt, heat, fumes, and cold as well as noise levels above 80 decibels. Work conditions vary throughout the week depending on the area of the plant assigned to work in. There will be visits to both indoor and outdoor locations during all seasons of the year.\nMany of the tasks are physical and the incumbent has to be able to lift up to 50 lbs. although the most frequent amount of weight lifted is 20 lbs. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The incumbent is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, feel, as well as balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear.
