This person is responsible for liquid painting using air assist airless spray equipment, mixing and thinning paint, operating plural component spray equipment, maintaining spray equipment, deglaring galvanizing, powder coating utilizing electrostatic application equipment, measuring and recording coating thickness and atmospheric conditions, operating blasting equipment including centrifugal blasting cabinets and nozzle blasting, operating cranes and Lowerators to hang and unhang various product, and operates packaging equipment. Uses IFS labor reporting system, standard shop forms, move tags, reads and utilizes shop drawings. Must be able to hammer, grind, and use a variety of different tools.\nEssential Functions:\nUse of liquid paint spray equipment, mixing and thinning paint, and maintaining spray equipment.\nUse of plural component spay equipment to apply a below grade polyurethane and maintain spray equipment. (Similar to truck bedliner application).\nPerforms deglaring process on galvanized poles after mixing chemical ingredients to proper specifications\nUse electrostatic powder coating equipment as well as performing basic troubleshooting and maintenance of the equipment\nUse measuring devices such as a dew point meter, dry film thickness gauge, and surface profile gauges\nOperate bridge cranes, gantry cranes, forklifts, blasting equipment, and packaging equipment\nRead and decipher shop drawings and reference finish specifications\nBend and pivot as well as lift, push, and pull objects weighing 50 pounds throughout the shift\nAbility to stand, walk, crouch, kneel, and climb stairs and ladders\nMust possess acceptable work history and attendance record\nAbility to work overtime when required for business needs\nThe ability to be forklift certified within first 90 days of the job\nImportant Details about the Role\nDemonstrate a commitment to Safety through excellent safety practices and behaviors and conform to all Valmont safety policies and procedures\nActively participate in department LEAN activities of the department and demonstrated performance working in a team environment.\nPassion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results\nThis position reports into the shop’s Production Manager\nRack and unrack parts, brush off, fill, sand, and clean parts for painting\nEnsure high quality products with visual quality check\nMaintain and operate painting, blasting, rigging, and packaging equipment safely\nPrepare paint booth, clean and set-up paint application system\nRequired Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)\n1+ year of industrial liquid painting experience including mixing and thinning paint and the use of pressurized spray equipment\nAbility to lift an average weight of 20 to 40 pounds, 40% of the time (i.e., all small parts, arms and pedestal bases), and lift 50-pound containers 5-10 times per shift\nThe ability to calculate simple mathematics and interpret shop drawings\nBasic working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Outlook or similar email software\nThe ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues\nThe ability to work in a team environment with a diverse group of people\nThe ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions\nThe ability to meet production, safety, and quality standards in a high-paced working environment\nWear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow facility safety regulations\nHighly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications\nExperience applying powder coating materials\nExperience operating overhead cranes and forklifts\nExperience using dry mill thickness gauges, wet film thickness gauges and micrometers\nExcellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills\nMust have a high awareness for safety at all times\nMust be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results\nBenefits\nValmont offers employees and their families a comprehensive Total Wellbeing benefit package to ensure their individual and family’s overall wellness needs are met.
