Valsoft is a Canadian company founded in 2015 that acquires and permanently holds vertical market software businesses rather than reselling them. It buys established, often founder-owned products serving narrow industries such as transport, hospitality, insurance, healthcare and utilities, then keeps them operating under their own brands with centralised support for finance, hiring and best practice. Headquartered in Montreal, it has completed well over a hundred acquisitions and operates on the model that a small software business serving an unglamorous industry can be extremely durable if it is never asked to grow beyond its market.

Aspire Software is looking for an Infrastructure Specialist to join our team in Lebanon.

Here is a little window into our company: Aspire Software operates and manages wholly owned software companies, providing mission-critical solutions across multiple verticals. By implementing industry best practices, Aspire delivers a time sensitive integration process, and the operation of a decentralized model has allowed it to become a hub for creating rapid growth by reinvesting in its portfolio.

Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on infrastructure specialist to own, secure and grow the AWS platform behind our software for the UK housing sector. You will keep customer environments reliable and well documented, build new environments as code, and be the person our customers and auditors trust with the difficult infrastructure questions.

This is first and foremost an infrastructure role. You will own our AWS estate end to end, from networking, compute and data stores through to identity, monitoring, backups and cost, across shared and customer-dedicated environments. You will work closely with our DevOps engineer, who leads on CI/CD, so that pipelines and environments evolve together.

You will also build. When a customer needs a dedicated environment you will stand it up from our Terraform templates, connect it to monitoring, identity and backup, hand it over with clear documentation and manage it through its life. You will be comfortable writing code, whether that is Terraform modules, serverless functions or automation scripts, because at SDS infrastructure and product are built by the same team.

Finally, you will be the link between the infrastructure and the people who depend on it: our developers, our ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials auditors, and the IT and security teams of our customers, particularly enterprise housing providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and operate: keep every environment healthy, patched, backed up and recoverable across Linux and Windows Server, and administer MongoDB for availability and performance.
  • Build as code: create and evolve environments through Terraform, treat drift as a defect, and move us towards hardened, repeatable builds.
  • Secure the platform: own IAM and least privilege, secrets and certificates, encryption, logging and security tooling, and act on what they tell you.
  • Make it observable: build the monitoring, alerting and dashboards that let us find problems before customers do, and own infrastructure incident response.
  • Support compliance: keep our ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials evidence, asset registers and diagrams current, and present them to auditors and customers on request.
  • Automate and develop: remove manual work with scripts and serverless automation, and contribute to our codebase where infrastructure and application meet.
  • Document and coach: own the infrastructure documentation set, define the standards the team follows, and help developers work safely with the platform.
  • Work with customers: join onboarding and procurement conversations, understand hosting, identity and security requirements, and turn them into clear environment designs.

Requirements

  • Several years running production infrastructure in AWS, with real depth in networking, compute, IAM, storage and monitoring
  • Strong Terraform: writing modules, managing state and building environments from code
  • Confident administering both Linux and Windows Server
  • Hands-on MongoDB operational experience (replica sets, backups, performance, upgrades)
  • A solid coding background in at least one of Python, PowerShell, Bash or C# / .NET, and the habit of automating anything you do twice
  • Practical understanding of security controls and what ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials expect of an infrastructure team
  • Clear written documentation and the discipline to keep it current
  • The confidence to explain technical decisions plainly to customers, auditors and developer

Desirable:

  • AWS certification such as Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator or Security Specialty
  • MongoDB, Linux or Microsoft server certifications
  • Experience with an identity provider and SSO protocols (SAML, OIDC, SCIM)
  • Containers, orchestration or serverless design
  • Experience hosting for enterprise or public sector customers, including supplier assurance and data residency
  • Cost optimisation and FinOps practice
  • Knowledge of the UK housing sector
