We focus on specialized industries where expertise creates lasting advantages.\nThe Opportunity\nWe’re looking for a Senior Software Developer to join a small development team working on large, multi-month projects across our platform. This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role where you’ll take ownership of technical delivery, work closely with other developers, and help turn requirements into software that is secure, testable, and built to last.\nThe role is full-stack, but leans heavily toward backend development. You’ll also have the opportunity to work on new products and AI capabilities being built directly into the Vocantas platform.\nLocation: Remote\nThe salary range for this role is $110,000-$125,000 per year. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and location.\nWhat You’ll Own\nBuild and deliver complex product work\nDesign and develop backend services using .NET 9 and C#, alongside frontend functionality using Vue.js or similar JavaScript frameworks. \nTake technical ownership of significant pieces of larger projects, from design through development, testing, and delivery. \nBreak down work so it can be clearly shared across a small group of developers. \nBuild secure, reliable software for customers operating in industries where security and system reliability matter. \nTechnical design and architecture\nApply domain-driven design and microservices principles to real product problems. \nDesign and optimize relational databases, including Microsoft SQL. \nBuild and maintain REST APIs, asynchronous messaging, and distributed systems. \nIdentify technical blockers early and work with the team to find practical solutions. \nLead code reviews and maintain strong standards for quality, security, performance, and maintainability. \nAI-assisted development and product innovation\nUse AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude as part of your day-to-day workflow. \nContribute to AI functionality being built directly into Vocantas products. \nHelp evaluate models and approaches based on factors such as performance, cost, reliability, and the problem being solved. \nWork closely with Product, QA, and other developers to turn requirements into working software. \nWhat We’re Looking For\n5+ years of professional software development experience, with strong backend experience. \nStrong hands-on experience with .NET and C#, including recent experience with modern .NET. \nExperience with Vue.js and TypeScript; experience with Angular or another modern JavaScript framework is also relevant. \nPractical experience applying domain-driven design and microservices architecture. \nExperience working with Microsoft SQL or another relational database. \nExperience building and integrating REST APIs. \nComfort working across the stack when needed. \nRegular experience using AI-assisted development tools as part of your workflow. \nStrong communication skills, including the ability to raise blockers early, ask questions when requirements are unclear, and work openly with teammates. \nAbility to take ownership of your work while contributing effectively within a small development team. \nStrongly Preferred\nExperience building AI-powered functionality into a software product, including working with models or AI pipelines. \nExperience with message brokers, asynchronous systems, or high-traffic distributed applications. \nExperience working with secure software in healthcare, manufacturing, or another environment with strong security requirements. \nWhy Vocantas?\nStay hands-on and own meaningful work: You’ll spend your time solving technical problems and building software, while taking ownership of substantial pieces of multi-month projects.
