The systems we build will ultimately be deployed across shipyards and industrial facilities throughout the country.\nThe Role\nValstad is seeking a Welding Engineer to own welding-process development, manufacturing quality, and nondestructive testing for robotic steel fabrication.\nYou will develop and qualify welding procedures, improve robotic welding performance, investigate defects, and establish the inspection systems required for production.\nWhat You Will Do\nDevelop and qualify welding procedures for structural steel fabrication.\n\nDefine process windows, parameters, consumables, and acceptance criteria.\n\nPartner with robotics and automation engineers to improve robotic welding.\n\nInvestigate defects and lead root-cause and corrective-action efforts.\n\nPerform or oversee VT, MT, and other applicable NDT methods.\n\nMaintain welding, inspection, calibration, and qualification records.\n\nDevelop production inspection plans and quality-control processes.\n\nSupport customer, classification, and program-specific requirements.\n\nWhat We Are Looking For\n5+ years of welding-engineering or welding-quality experience.\n\nStrong knowledge of GMAW and structural-steel fabrication.\n\nExperience developing WPSs, PQRs, and qualification programs.\n\nCurrent or previous Level II qualification in VT and MT under a recognized written practice.\n\nExperience investigating weld defects and production variation.\n\nAbility to work directly with robotic systems and manufacturing teams.\n\nAWS CWI and Level II UT experience are strongly preferred.
