You will run complex software delivery end to end, working with distributed, cross-functional teams across several countries. We need someone who combines strong technical understanding with excellent soft skills, and who own outcomes rather than just processes.\nThe ideal candidate\n6+ years of project management experience in a software development environment, including at least 3 years in client-facing roles at a service company or agency.\nTechnically strong: comfortable discussing architecture, integrations, APIs, environments and release processes with engineers. Able to challenge estimates and spot technical risk early.\nStrong command of Agile/Scrum and hybrid delivery setups.\nProven ownership of scope, timeline and budget on medium to large projects.\nExperience managing several projects or workstreams at the same time.\nExperience leading distributed teams across countries and time zones.\nExcellent stakeholder management, including with senior client contacts.\nStrong negotiation skills on scope, timelines and change requests.\nCalm and constructive in escalations and difficult conversations.\nClear, structured verbal and written communication.\nHands-on with Jira and Confluence, and with MS Office.\nEnglish at B2+, with confident spoken English for client calls.\nAlso considered\nCandidates with prior Delivery Manager experience, provided they are ready to work hands-on at project level.\nNice to have\nA technical background (ex-engineer, BA or QA).\nRelevant domain experience.\nPrevious experience in management Data Engineering/Science projects will be a plus\nHands-on use of AI tooling in delivery.\nProfessional PM certifications (PMP, PSM, PRINCE2).\n\nThe role\nYou will:\nPlan, manage and control scope, budget and timeline of software delivery projects.\nAct as the main point of contact for the client on day-to-day delivery and own the client relationship at project level.\nNegotiate scope, priorities and change requests with client stakeholders.\nIdentify and manage risks, dependencies and technical issues early, working closely with tech leads.\nAllocate work and manage workload across the team.\nKeep a distributed team aligned, motivated and productive.\nRun Agile ceremonies and continuously improve delivery processes.\nProvide clear, regular reporting on status, risks and budget to the client and internal management.\nGive performance feedback to team members and input into their development.\nAt Lead level, additionally: mentor other PMs and contribute to delivery standards across the account.\nIf you do not meet all the listed qualifications or have gaps in your experience, we still encourage you to apply. Beyond technical delivery, we want someone genuinely curious about the business problems behind the data, who applies common sense, detailed analysis, and experience-based recommendations to help shape business requirements, not just implement them as given. \nYou will work on scalable batch, streaming, and near-real-time pipelines, delivering high-quality curated datasets with robust governance, security, and observability. You will also support AI and GenAI systems, enabling pipelines for machine learning, causal modeling, and LLM-powered applications such as RAG and agent-based systems, and collaborate closely with data scientists, ML engineers, and platform teams. \nPlatforms \nOur work is centered on AWS with Databricks, with growing demand on GCP, including cloud migration programs. Azure/Fabric experience is also valued. We are looking for engineers with deep expertise in one cloud who are T-shaped: comfortable working across clouds and keen to broaden their platform experience. You’ll be staffed on projects that fit your strongest platform, with opportunities to expand. \nResponsibilities \nBuild & Data Platform Engineering \nDesign and implement scalable data platforms and pipelines, primarily on AWS and Databricks, and on GCP or Azure/Fabric where projects require. \nDevelop reliable batch, streaming, and near-real-time pipelines using Spark and Delta Lake. \nBuild ingestion, transformation, and curation workflows for structured and unstructured data. \nImplement lakehouse patterns and medallion layering (bronze, silver, gold), ensuring reusable, scalable systems aligned with enterprise needs. \nContribute to cloud-to-cloud migrations, including re-platforming pipelines and data models. \nEnable AI, GenAI & Data Products \nDeliver model-ready, production-grade datasets for analytics, ML, causal modeling, and optimization. \nBuild data pipelines for GenAI use cases (LLMs, RAG, vector-based data flows) and agent-based architectures. \nLeverage Databricks MLflow and Unity Catalog, or equivalent tooling on other platforms. \nData Modeling, Orchestration & Automation \nDesign logical and physical data models for analytical and operational use cases. \nOrchestrate workflows with Databricks Workflows, Airflow, dbt, or equivalents (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Cloud Composer), with a focus on automation, reliability, and maintainability. \nArchitecture, Governance & Observability \nApply event-driven and streaming architecture patterns. \nEnsure data governance, lineage, quality, and access control (RBAC/ABAC) using Unity Catalog, AWS Lake Formation, or equivalents (Microsoft Purview, GCP Dataplex). \nEstablish observability: data freshness, pipeline reliability, and SLA adherence. \nData Serving, Integration & Optimization \nEnable serving layers (APIs, feature inputs, analytical endpoints) for downstream ML and AI platforms. \nContinuously optimize pipelines and infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost. \nRequirements Discovery & Business Partnership \nAsk the right questions to understand not just what stakeholders want, but why. \nSurface gaps and better alternatives rather than executing a brief as written. \nCollaboration \nWork closely with data scientists, ML engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders. \nSupport adoption of data products and contribute to best practices. \nMust-have qualifications \nTechnical skills \nStrong hands-on experience with Apache Spark and Delta Lake. \nStrong Python and SQL. \nProven experience building batch and streaming pipelines and production-grade data platforms. \nSolid understanding of data modeling, data quality, and governance. \nCloud & platforms (key requirement) \nStrong, demonstrable hands-on experience with the Databricks Lakehouse Platform, ideally on AWS (e.g., S3, Glue, EMR, Redshift, Kinesis, Lambda). \nDeep expertise in at least one major cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure/Fabric), plus demonstrable openness and ability to work across clouds. Candidates with a strong Azure/Fabric background (Data Factory, Synapse, Fabric Lakehouse, Azure Databricks) are encouraged to apply, provided they are keen to work in other clouds. \nGCP experience (e.g., BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Dataproc) is highly valued, especially in migration contexts. \nArchitecture & systems thinking \nExperience with lakehouse architectures and distributed systems. \nStrong understanding of scalability, reliability, and performance. \nMindset \nNaturally curious, with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach in cross-functional teams. \nComfortable challenging business requirements rather than taking them at face value. \nAdaptable and eager to work across platforms.
