Data Governance Manager - Unity Catalog

Role Overview:
Define and implement enterprise data governance framework using Databricks Unity Catalog.
Establish data ownership, stewardship, classification, and accountability across business domains.
Design and maintain Business Glossary, Data Dictionary, and Critical Data Elements (CDEs).
Map business terms and definitions to Unity Catalog tables, columns, and data assets.
Define metadata management and data discovery standards.
Establish data lineage and impact analysis across source-to-consumption data flows.
Define and implement data access, security, and governance policies using Unity Catalog.
Establish data quality standards, rules, ownership, and monitoring processes.
Define governance standards for data products, schemas, tables, and data lifecycle management.
Partner with Data Engineering, Architecture, Security, Compliance, and Business teams to drive governance adoption.
Define governance processes, policies, standards, and operating model.
Requirements:
- Strong experience in Databricks and Unity Catalog.
- Strong knowledge of Lakehouse architecture.
- Experience with cloud data platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Strong SQL knowledge.
- Understanding of Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2.
- Experience with data classification, metadata management, data ownership, and stewardship.
- Experience developing enterprise data governance frameworks.
Technical Proficiencies:
- Catalogs, Schemas, Managed and external tables.
- External locations, Storage credentials, Volumes, Views, Functions.
- Unity Catalog permissions and grants, Row/column-level security concepts, Data lineage.
