Typically, we expect the successful candidate to one year of related landscaping/grounds keeping experience.\nAbout the Work Unit:\nVanderbilt Maintenance & Operations (VUMO) provides facilities support for all construction, renovation, and routine maintenance of University Central space and facilities; housekeeping services for approximately 5.8 million square feet of academic, administrative, residential, and recreational space; grounds care for 330 acres that are a registered arboretum; turf care for athletic fields; and utilities for the University Central and the Medical Center.\nVUMO’s annual budget exceeds $100 million in operating expenses and includes over 400 employees. VUMO manages major capital project expenditures totaling ~$125 million annually and facility renewal, replacement and large maintenance project expenditures totaling ~$20 million annually.\nDuties and Responsibilities:\nMixing and application of herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, and fungicides\nMinor repair of irrigation systems\nLitter policing\nPull weeds in shrubs/flower/groundcover beds\nRake leaves and pickup\nPickup trash receptacles and cleanup dumpster site\nPickup recycling\nMow lawns operating reel, push, walk behind, and zero turn radius mowers\nPressure washing\nHand watering of plants\nClean stairwells, gutters, storm drains\nSnow removal\nPlant trees, shrubs, groundcovers, flowers\nMulch landscape beds\nSport and recreational fields lining\nRoundup herbicide spraying\nSpecial events support\nAssist arborist crew with storm damage clean-up\nOutdoor patio furnishings placing and removal\nLawn maintenance: core aerating, slit seeding, over seeding & fertilizing\nApply pre-emergent in shrub, flower & groundcover beds\nOccasionally remove bikes\nOperate and perform operator level maintenance on landscape truck\nOperate the following equipmentWeed Eater\nVacuum\nBackpack Blower\nEdger\nPush Blower\nFront-end loader\nSteer Loader\nTractor\nTurf Roller\n100-gallon sprayer\nsnowplow\nwoodchipper\nstump grinder\n\nOperate trucker vehicle & golf cart\nOther duties related to classification\nWorking Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM\nEducation and Certifications:\nHigh School Diploma or GED is required\n\nBachelor’s degree is preferred\n\nValid Driver License is required; must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
