Job Summary:

The Enterprise AI Assistant Product Manager leads Vanderbilt Health's AI assistant platforms, including Microsoft 365 Copilot (Basic and Premium), Claude Enterprise, and other AI assistant and agent platforms as they are adopted. This role blends three disciplines: setting direction and priorities like a product owner, staying technically fluent enough to work shoulder-to-shoulder with engineering on architecture and integrations, and acting as a consultant who advises business, clinical, security, and finance stakeholders on the right AI solutions for their needs.

Day to day, this role sets priorities and plans for the platforms, works directly with engineering to connect tools, agents, and data sources, builds the program for managing consumption and token spend across AI platforms, drives governance standards for Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools and connectors, and consults with business teams on AI solutions for their productivity needs. The mix of strategic planning, technical depth, and advisory skill allows this person to lead credibly across engineering, governance, and business audiences in an enterprise AI environment subject to HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.

.

Tool & Data Integration

  • Defining Tools to Platforms: Define how tools, agents, connectors, and enterprise data sources are surfaced through AI assistant platforms, directing engineering to publish agents to the appropriate stores and delivery surfaces (Copilot app, Teams, and elsewhere).

  • Requirements & Catalog: Translate business needs into requirements and integration standards. Contributes to a governed catalog so business teams can discover, request, and adopt approved AI capabilities.

Consumption & Token Spend Program

  • Cost Program: Collaborate with other teams to build a program for managing consumption and token spend across multiple AI platforms, working with IT, Finance, and business owners to allocate and optimize spend.

  • Metrics & Optimization: Define usage metrics and reporting that surface cost drivers to leadership and identify opportunities for cost avoidance and license reallocation.

AI Governance Standards

  • Connector Governance: Contribute to governance standards for Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, tools, and connectors, helping to define how they are reviewed, approved, secured, and monitored before use with enterprise AI platforms.

  • Policy & Standards: Participates in AI governance activities, approved-use conditions, and risk framing to ensure alignment with organizational policies, maintaining supporting standards and documentation.

Advisory & Solution Consulting

  • Business Consultation: Consult with business and clinical teams to understand productivity needs and recommend AI solutions, serving as the primary point of contact for stakeholders across security, governance, data, finance, and business units.

  • Experience managing cloud or SaaS consumption and cost, including forecasting, metering, and optimization of usage-based or token-based services.

  • Experience in a healthcare or other highly regulated industry, with an understanding of how HIPAA and related requirements affect platform and data governance, is strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Planning & Prioritization: Strong ability to set direction, prioritize initiatives, and make trade-off decisions tied to measurable business outcomes.

  • Technical Fluency: Enough hands-on understanding of enterprise AI assistant architectures, agent frameworks, Model Context Protocol (MCP), connectors, and data grounding to lead credibly and partner effectively with engineers.

  • Governance & Compliance: Understanding of AI governance, risk, and compliance practices, including defining approved-use conditions aligned to healthcare regulatory requirements.

  • Stakeholder Leadership: Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for business and executive audiences and to lead cross-functional initiatives without direct authority.
