To accommodate continued growth and prepare for future success, we are seeking a Design Safety Engineer talent who can blend technical expertise, with a hands-on and open approach ensuring projects success.\nYour responsibilities and activities will include:\nSupport a safe working environment: Championing, encouraging and leading by example to deliver a safety-first culture.\nThrough effective collaboration: utilize expert skills and knowledge to guide multiple project teams, internal and external suppliers to deliver safe system design solutions, with the ability to deal with ambiguity to make and own risk-based decisions.\nOversee Project Deliverables: Identifying design safety uncertainty through effective risk analysis and propose mitigations as well as executing site inspections.\nChampion Design Safety: for the lifecycle of the equipment, during the tendering and sales phase through to design, build, installation, commissioning, deployment, operational use, decommissioning and disposal for project team members and end users.\nSupport Team Growth and Development: Continuously improve and grow your own and teams technical and professional development, sharing lessons learned across projects and products.\n Ensure Technical Compliance and Readiness: Able to identify non-compliance through audit of the system design from start of pre bid phase, through Engineering and handover phases to provide a Declaration of Conformance (CE).\nProvide Regular Updates to Management: Communicate effectively with project and management teams on status and performance, highlighting potential risks and solutions.\nBe a trusted partner: with Vanderlande’s customers through effective, collaborative working relationships. Have an ability to discuss and advise customers and suppliers on machinery safety and legislative compliance to ensure that customers’ expectations are met or exceeded.\nPersonal characteristics:\nConfident, outgoing and personable team player.\nProactive hands-on approach, searches for information instead of waiting.\nGood attention to detail with the ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records.\nTakes ownership of their responsibilities for projects.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nAdept at negotiation, diplomacy and conflict resolution.\nEducation and Experience:\nMinimum 5 years of relevant work experience.\nBSc/MSc in Engineering field\nUnderstanding of the machinery directive (2006/42/EC) and experience in the application of safety standards such as EN 619; ISO 13849-1/2; ISO 13850, ISO 14122-1 till -4; IEC 60204-1)\nQualified in machine safety CMSE (Certified Machine Safety Expert) or equivalent.\nKnowledge of electrical safety and 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)\nCompetency in PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998).\nEvidence of working in the area of machine safety.\nFormal health, safety and environment qualification (CDM, IOSH, NEBOSH, SMSTS)\nProfessionally Accredited with an engineering body or aiming to be.\nProven track record in material handling systems strongly preferred.
