Responsible for the operational and technical personnel duties while operating and maintaining the baggage handling system at JFK - Terminal One. This role leads daily operations, supervises personnel and subcontractors, ensures compliance with safety and site policies, and drives continuous improvement through training, performance management, and root cause analysis. By fostering a safe, efficient, and high-quality work environment, the Supervisor ensures reliable service delivery and team development.\nEssential Functions (Job Duties and Responsibilities):\nWorks under the direction of the Operations and Maintenance Manager to guide, support onsite personnel while working on the Individual Carrier System (ICS) and Passenger Boarding Bridge (PBB). \nSupervises team performance and daily operation activities, leads, and sets direction of the operational and maintenance team including subcontractors. \nParticipate in weekly, monthly, and quarterly meeting with Operations and Maintenance Manager, customers to review performance, as needed. \nResponsible for the implementation and adherence of staff to our health and safety plan, training requirements and overall participation in the company health and safety program. \nImprove capability and capacity of operations and maintenance personnel. \nTrain, and lead employee performance to ensure continuous improvement. \nEnsure a safe work environment for employees and ensure that safe work practices are utilized. \nMaintain, and enforce site specific policies and procedures including but not limited to: Communication plans, safety plans, contingency plans, attendance, quality control of craftsmanship, inventory management, training requirements, PLC code control (per TSA's PODS 4.2 guidelines). \nPromote training initiatives \nTrain and follow standard operating procedures. \nConduct ongoing BHS Assessments, BHS failures and root cause analysis. \nPromote Equipment and vicinity cleanliness and good housekeeping practices. \nWork with Operation and Maintenance Manager to oversee and manage Employee data references regarding labor hours, response, WO completion, problem resolution, etc. \nSet up, adjust, and maintain LMS parameters \nIdentifies recurring issues and elaborates ideas for improvement, i.e. the quality of work, performance of employees and cooperation with Operation and Maintenance Manager. \nDistributes work, and monitors progress and quality. \nImprove team performance which may lead to people’s development. \nSupervise and co-ordinate the management of third-party interests when undertaking specialist operations, maintenance, or repair activities on their shift. \nResponsible for the contractors permit to work and sign offs \nRequired Education and Experience:\n5+ years of experience in the electro-mechanical field. \n2+ years of experience as a team leader/supervisor\nHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent\nValid Driver's license\nExperience in industrial, commercial construction, or material handling/conveyor systems industries. \nOther Requirements:\nMust be able to attain and sustain an Airport I.D. Badge \nPreferred Qualifications\nTechnical education in Mechanical or Electrical fields (mid-level or higher preferred)\nExperience supervising operations in airport or warehouse environments\nBackground in conveyor systems or material handling services\nKnowledge of safety programs and certifications such as OSHA 30\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Competencies)\nStrong team-building and group leadership skills\nOpen and constructive in providing feedback\nProficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)\nAbility to advise and support engineers effectively\nClear written and verbal communication across all organizational levels\nExcellent organizational and time management abilities\nAnalytical skills to identify issues and develop practical solutions\nStrong communication, work ethic, and technical aptitude\nAbility to mentor and grow with the company’s expansion\nProfessional confidence in representing the company externally\nCommitment to safety and adherence to safe work practices\nPosition Type/Expected Hours of Work:\nThis is a full-time position. Schedule is driven by the needs of the operation. May be required to work nights and weekends.\nSupervisory Responsibility:\nOversee and Manage Operation and Maintenance Technician and subcontractors\nTravel Requirements: This position may require the ability and willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time within the U.S. prior to go-live to support onboarding, training, and operational readiness activities. Following go-live, travel requirements are expected to decrease to less than 10%. Candidates should also be flexible and willing to provide support at other Vanderlande airport sites, particularly in the event of a delayed go-live or if additional site support is required.\nWork Environment and Physical Demands:\nThe work environment/physical requirements described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job and/or stepping in when needed: The Manager works in a secured baggage handling area, in repair stations, or on airfields. They often must meet strict deadlines to maintain flight schedules.\nWorkers frequently bend, stoop, and reach from ladders and scaffolds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee at times will lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. They will be lifting parts and tools for extended periods of time and handling equipment such as conveyor systems. They will identify and fix mechanical problems with machinery, and they commonly work with greasy parts and tools, sometimes in uncomfortable positions.\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is working with and exposed to the baggage handling system, mechanical parts and vibration.
