In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that system designs meet customer requirements, are coordinated with other trades to minimize installation conflicts, can be installed efficiently, and maintain clear communication with on-site teams.\nSuccess in this role requires the ability to balance technical responsibilities with strong collaboration skills when working with customers, vendors, and internal teams. You will help align priorities, improve processes, and contribute to achieving complex project goals. Strong technical capabilities, creativity, interpersonal skills, drive, and passion are essential. Successful candidates demonstrate good judgment in determining when to solve problems independently and when to leverage the experience of senior team members.\nKey Responsibilities\nYour responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:\nTranslate sales drawings and specifications into a fully functional mechanical system description that can be developed into a Request for Proposal (RfP) for Project Procurement.\n\nOptimize functionality from the as-sold concept into a working mechanical design within budget, in coordination with other disciplines (Electrical, Controls, Supply Chain, Installation, etc.).\n\nDevelop 3D models of systems and manage clash detection.\n\nProduce associated 2D customer approval drawings and installation layout drawings.\n\nPerform spatial analysis for clearance envelopes, egress pathways, and forklift vehicle aisles.\n\nPerform system- and component-level checks based on vendor submissions.\n\nEngineer non-standard mechanical interfaces.\n\nApply applicable safety regulations and ergonomic standards.\n\nCreate motor manifests in coordination with electrical and controls engineering requirements.\n\nDocument engineering decisions through design plans, clear installation documentation, and engineering instructions for site supervisors and installation subcontractors.\n\nTravel to project sites as needed to conduct site surveys.\n\nSupport installation and commissioning activities both on-site and from the Marietta office.\n\nMaintain project documentation and control using a rights-based database system.\n\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.\n\nMinimum of 5 years of relevant work experience (or Associate degree in ME/ET with 8 years of related experience).\n\nWillingness and ability to travel domestically up to 33%, with occasional international travel opportunities.\n\nAbility to think conceptually at the system level and translate concepts into detailed designs.\n\nAbility to work effectively in an entrepreneurial environment where teamwork and collaboration are essential.\n\nStrong communication skills and the ability to clearly set expectations for deliverables.\n\nAbility to manage time-sensitive situations and prioritize effectively while maintaining attention to detail.\n\nWillingness to learn and take initiative.\n\nAbility to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.\n\nStrong team mindset and willingness to take ownership of project outcomes.\n\nAbility to quickly assess situations and take appropriate action.\n\nStrong problem-solving skills and ability to research effective solutions.\n\nExcellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.\n\nAbility to drive process improvements.\n\nExperience with project management or leading teams.\n\nExperience with project planning and deliverables tracking.\n\nProficiency with AutoCAD 2D and 3D.\n\nExperience using the Autodesk suite of tools (Revit, Navisworks, Vault, BIM360, ACC, etc.).\n\nDesired Qualifications\nKnowledge or experience with OSHA 1910/29 Occupational Safety and Health Standards.\n\nKnowledge or experience with the International Building Code (IBC).\n\nKnowledge or experience with ANSI B11 Machine Guarding Standards.\n\nKnowledge or experience with ASME B20.1 Safety Standards for Conveyors and Related Equipment.\n\nKnowledge or experience with ISO 13849-1.\n\nExperience using commercially available project management software such as MS Project or Primavera.","description_format":"text","description_chars":4423,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"associate","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Warehousing","Logistics & Warehouse Robotics"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-09-25T22:29:55Z"}],"liveness":{"score":90,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.903,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":29,"reasons":["conf:0","velocity","win:early","comp:brand"],"computed_at":"2026-09-26T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/vanderlande-mechanical-project-engineer-2","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/vanderlande-mechanical-project-engineer-2.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-09-27T04:00:42Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":3735,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":1265,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-09-28T00:00:00Z"}}}
