Position Overview

We are looking for a resourceful and technically skilled Sales Engineer to join our rapidly growing Brownfield Solutions (RMR) team in North America.

Based in Marietta, GA, you will play a key role in developing innovative and cost-competitive solutions that help customers increase capacity, improve throughput, modernize technology, extend asset life, and optimize the performance of existing warehouse automation systems.

This is a high-impact, individual contributor role in a fast-paced project bidding environment supporting some of the world's most demanding logistics and e-commerce operations. You will directly influence the development of complex, multi-million-dollar automation projects while helping customers solve critical operational challenges.

You will join an established and rapidly expanding team based in Marietta, Georgia, working closely with colleagues across sales, engineering, procurement, operations, controls, software, and project execution.

The team has successfully built its local capabilities and is actively delivering customer solutions throughout North America. New team members benefit from local onboarding, mentorship, and direct involvement in active opportunities and projects, enabling them to make an immediate impact.

As part of Vanderlande's global organization, you will also collaborate with subject matter experts across Europe and North America, leveraging worldwide expertise while helping scale a business that is increasingly driven and executed locally.

This is a unique opportunity to join a business at an exciting stage of growth, where individual contributions have visible impact and future career opportunities will expand alongside the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate to design and optimize system layouts created in AutoCAD and Navisworks, ensuring alignment with technical goals, site constraints, and customer expectations.
  • Work cross-functionally with layout, engineering, procurement, operations, and sales teams to develop competitive, executable, and customer-focused solutions.
  • Engage directly with customers to understand operational challenges, define requirements, and present technical solutions.
  • Lead technical reviews and risk assessments to ensure feasibility, compliance, and alignment with Vanderlande standards.
  • Support project handover by delivering clear technical documentation and assisting project execution teams during the transition from sales to implementation.
  • Interpret RFPs and technical specifications to develop compliant, competitive, and differentiated solutions.
  • Develop project cost estimates using historical data, project requirements, vendor quotations, and internal subject matter expertise.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by supporting lessons learned, cost analysis, and solution standardization efforts.
  • Support business growth initiatives by driving solution approaches that strengthen Vanderlande's position in the North American Brownfield market.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in sales engineering, system design, project engineering, solution development, or estimating, preferably within material handling, warehouse automation, logistics, or industrial systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and the ability to navigate AutoCAD and Navisworks 3D environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with modernization, retrofit, expansion, upgrade, or capital project environments is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with customer-facing technical sales activities and solution development processes.

Preferred Attributes

  • Creative and resourceful in developing practical solutions under demanding deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Familiarity with warehouse automation, parcel, distribution, or logistics processes.
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to balance technical excellence and cost competitiveness.
  • Comfortable interacting directly with customers and presenting technical concepts.
  • Able to thrive in an entrepreneurial, high-growth, and collaborative environment.
  • Comfortable with occasional domestic and international travel.
