You will combine strong software engineering expertise with practical experience in computer vision, image processing, AI models, and scalable software architectures.\nWorking together with product owners, architects, automation specialists, and fellow software engineers, you will help bring AI vision capabilities from concept and prototype to reliable, production-ready solutions used in some of the world's most advanced logistics environments.\nYour responsibilities\nAs a Senior Software Engineer, you will:\nDesign, develop, and maintain software components for AI vision-enabled parcel management systems.\nTranslate operational and product requirements into reliable computer vision solutions.\nDevelop software that processes image and camera data to support real-time decision making within automated logistics systems.\nEvaluate, integrate, and industrialize computer vision technologies, AI models, and supporting frameworks.\nCollaborate closely with architects, product owners, automation specialists, and development teams to define scalable solution architectures.\nEnsure software is maintainable, testable, secure, and aligned with Vanderlande engineering standards.\nSupport prototyping, validation, system performance optimization, and deployment activities.\nTake ownership of technical solution design and contribute to the long-term AI vision technology roadmap.\nMentor and coach less experienced engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical guidance.\nHelp establish engineering best practices within the AI vision and software development domain.\nYour profile\nYou are an experienced software engineer who enjoys working on complex technical challenges and turning innovative ideas into high-quality software products.\nYou bring:\nA Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, or a related field.\nExtensive experience in software engineering, preferably within industrial automation, logistics, robotics, or other real-time environments.\nHands-on experience with computer vision, image processing, machine learning, or AI-based perception systems.\nExperience designing and developing production-quality software using modern engineering practices.\nKnowledge of software architectures, APIs, distributed systems, data processing pipelines, and system integrations.\nExperience moving solutions from proof-of-concept to scalable, maintainable products.\nA strong focus on software quality, performance, security, reliability, and maintainability.\nExcellent collaboration and communication skills.\nThe ability to lead technical discussions, influence solution directions, and guide engineering teams without relying solely on formal authority.\nPreferred qualifications\nExperience with computer vision frameworks such as OpenCV or similar technologies.\nExperience deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.\nKnowledge of cloud-native architectures and modern DevOps practices.\nExperience with automation, robotics, sensor systems, or material handling environments.\nPractical understanding of computer vision hardware fundamentals (cameras, optics/lenses, lighting, and optical filters)\nWhat we offer\nAt Vanderlande, you will have the opportunity to be part of complex and meaningful projects that shape the future of logistics.
