This role contributes directly to the delivery and stability of customer-facing features, business applications, APIs and integrations.\nYour work will help improve solution quality, security, maintainability and operational reliability. By using common components, documenting solutions and maintaining accurate delivery information, you’ll also support more efficient and controlled technology delivery.\nWorking within a regulated environment, you’ll help ensure that technology change is delivered in line with security, quality, governance and traceability expectations. \nYou’ll work closely with the Software Engineering Manager, senior engineers and architects for technical guidance, design review and delivery alignment. You’ll also collaborate with product, business analysis, testing, security, operations, change and release teams, alongside third-party suppliers and platform partners where required.\n\nOur engineering approach:\nWe believe in \nWhat that means \nSimple, supportable solutions\nWe balance configuration, low-code and custom-code options to find a proportionate solution\nSecure by design \nSecurity, data protection and access controls are considered throughout delivery\nShared ownership \nTeams collaborate from requirements and design through to release and operational support\nQuality built in\nSource control, testing, peer review and documentation form part of how we engineer\nContinuous learning \nPeer review and engineering communities help us share knowledge and develop capability\n\nTechnology stack:\nSalesforce \nMuleSoft and engineering practises \nApex\nMule 4 applications\nLightning Web Components\nAPI-led integration\nFlow and declarative automation\nDataWeave\nData modelling\nREST and SOAP APIs\nSalesforce security\nMUnit testing\nMetadata-based deployment\nAnypoint tooling\nComponent-based development\nSource control and branching\nDebugging, logs and platform telemetry\nAutomated build, testing and deployment\nEssential experience\nYou’ll need:\nHands-on professional software development experience using Salesforce, MuleSoft or a comparable enterprise platform.\nExperience designing or delivering software solutions, APIs or integrations using modern engineering, testing and deployment practices.\nA sound understanding of APIs, integration concepts, data structures and error handling.\nWorking knowledge of Salesforce development and configuration, including relevant experience in areas such as Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flow, data modelling, security or metadata-based deployment, or working knowledge of MuleSoft development, including relevant experience in areas such as Mule 4, API-led integration, DataWeave, REST or SOAP APIs, MUnit or Anypoint tooling.\nThe ability to produce clean, maintainable and well-documented code or configuration using agreed engineering standards.\nConfidence using source control, branching, pull requests and code review.\nExperience creating automated unit, component or integration tests.\nThe ability to investigate technical issues using debugging tools, logs, telemetry or runtime monitoring.\nAn understanding of secure software development, data protection, access controls and structured change management.\nGood written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical work clearly to colleagues and stakeholders.\nA collaborative, methodical and quality-focused approach to delivery.\n\nUseful, but not essential\nIt would be helpful if you have:\nExperience across both Salesforce and MuleSoft.\nSalesforce or MuleSoft Developer certification, or equivalent demonstrable experience.\nExperience working in a regulated, compliance-conscious or financial services environment.\nFamiliarity with Agile delivery practices.\nExperience using DevOps or release management tooling.\nExposure to customer-facing platforms, business-critical applications or operational support.\nExperience identifying and helping address technical debt, performance constraints or operational risks.\nExperience working with third-party suppliers or technology platform partners.\n\nCareer development:\nAs Vanquis continues to strengthen its software engineering capability, you’ll have opportunities to deepen your expertise across Salesforce, MuleSoft, APIs, integration and modern engineering practices.\nYou’ll develop through hands-on delivery, design discussions, peer review, communities of practice and collaboration with senior engineers and architects.
