This role serves as the local environmental resource, helping ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations, permits, company standards, and regulatory commitments.\nThe Environmental Specialist works closely with Site Operations, Construction, Engineering, contractors, and EHS personnel to identify environmental risks, conduct inspections, maintain compliance documentation, support audits, and drive corrective actions to closure.\nThis position plays a critical role in maintaining Vantage's audit-ready environmental compliance posture while supporting safe and reliable operation of mission-critical facilities.\nKey Responsibilities\nEnvironmental Compliance\nSupport compliance with applicable federal, state, provincial, and local environmental regulations.\nAssist in the implementation of environmental compliance programs and standards.\nMonitor compliance with environmental permits and regulatory requirements.\nTrack regulatory commitments, inspections, reporting deadlines, and permit conditions.\nEscalate compliance concerns and emerging environmental risks to leadership.\nEnvironmental Inspections & Audits\nConduct routine environmental inspections of operational facilities and construction activities.\nVerify compliance with:Environmental permits\nSPCC requirements\nWaste-management requirements\nChemical-management requirements\nStormwater controls\n\nDocument findings and track corrective actions.\nParticipate in internal, customer, and regulatory audits.\nAssist in preparing sites for environmental inspections and assessments.\nEnvironmental Program Support\nSupport implementation and maintenance of campus environmental programs, including:\nSpill Prevention, Control and Countermeasure (SPCC)\nAir-permit compliance\nStormwater management\nWaste management\nSpill response and reporting\nEnvironmental compliance documentation\nAssist with permit renewals, records management, inspections, and regulatory reporting activities.\nEnvironmental Incident Response\nRespond to environmental incidents, spills, releases, and permit deviations.\nAssist with containment, cleanup coordination, waste disposal, and documentation.\nSupport incident investigations and root-cause analyses.\nTrack corrective actions and verify completion.\nParticipate in emergency response exercises and drills involving environmental scenarios.\nEnvironmental Documentation & Compliance Systems\nMaintain environmental compliance records and documentation.\nUpdate compliance management systems, trackers, and dashboards.\nSupport maintenance of:Permit inventories\nCompliance calendars\nInspection records\nSpill records\nTraining records\nCorrective-action logs\n\nEnsure environmental documentation remains complete, accurate, and audit-ready.\nEnvironmental Awareness & Training\nDeliver environmental compliance awareness training.\nPromote environmental stewardship and compliance expectations.\nSupport training related to:Spill prevention and response\nWaste management\nChemical management\nEnvironmental incident reporting\nSite environmental procedures\n\nHelp ensure employees and contractors understand their environmental responsibilities.\nQualifications\nRequired\nBachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Chemistry, or Science related field.\n5+ years of environmental compliance experience.\nKnowledge of:EPA regulations\nAir Regulations\nEnvironmental permitting\nSPCC programs\nWaste-management requirements\nStormwater compliance\n\nExperience conducting inspections, audits, or compliance assessments.\nStrong organizational and documentation skills.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities and regulatory deadlines.\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\nPreferred\nExperience in data centers, chemicals, oil and gas, manufacturing, utility, or energy environments.\nExperience supporting environmental compliance at operating facilities or construction sites.\nExperience with environmental management systems (ex: ISO 14000).\nCHMM, REM, or related environmental certifications.\nPhysical Demands and Special Requirements\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
