This role develops Supervisors and Leads, drives preventive and predictive maintenance tied to production TAKT, manages regulatory compliance, and implements business continuity strategies. The Manager partners cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and external vendors to sustain reliability, improve safety culture, control costs, and support VM’s Four Pillars: Safety, Quality, Output, and Cost.\nRequirements\nMANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES:\nSafety\nLead the Safety Program in partnership with the Safety Supervisor. \nEnsure compliance with OSHA, EPA, Fire Department, and other regulations. \nConduct audits, inspections, and hazard assessments; track and close corrective actions. \nOversee incident investigations and emergency preparedness programs. \nEnsure proper hazardous material handling and contractor/vendor safety compliance. \nFacilities & Maintenance\nOversee all facility systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, fire/life safety, security, grounds, custodial). \nMaintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs with =90% compliance. \nPlan and manage capital projects, renovations, and upgrades within budget and schedule. \nManage vendor contracts, leases, and facility agreements. \nApply Lean/5S practices to reduce waste and improve efficiency. \nBudget, Metrics & Reporting\nManage Facilities & Safety budgets within ±5% of target. \nTrack and report KPIs (e.g., incident rates, PM completion, downtime reduction, corrective action closure). \nUse data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement. \nTeam Leadership & Development\nLead and develop Facilities & Safety Supervisors, Leads, and staff. \nProvide coaching, goal setting, and performance feedback. \nPartner with Learning & Development to ensure required training and certifications are maintained. \nPromote a proactive safety culture through visible leadership and recognition. \nCollaboration\nWork with cross-functional teams to support production throughput and inspection readiness. \nEnsure facilities are prepared for OEM, NHTSA, and Fire Department audits. \nEscalate issues as needed to senior leadership. \nQualifications & Skills\nBachelor’s degree or 5+ years in Facilities Management, Safety, or Environmental Health. \n5-7 years’ experience in facilities/safety management within manufacturing, automotive, or maintenance. \nSafety certifications (CSP, CIH, NEBOSH) preferred. \nHands-on knowledge of building systems. \nExperience applying Lean/5S and continuous improvement. \nStrong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills. \nProficiency in facility management systems, safety reporting tools, and MS Office. \nValid driver’s license. \nBilingual a plus. \nWorking Conditions\nExposure to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards; occasional off-hours emergency response. \nMust be able to perform physical work in industrial environments and respond to emergencies as needed. \nSuccess Metrics\nHigh compliance with preventive maintenance schedules. \nTimely closure of safety-related corrective actions. \nContinuous reduction in injuries and overall safety incidents. \nReduction in unplanned equipment downtime. \nFacilities consistently maintained at or above audit standards. \nDepartmental expenses managed within budget. \nPhysical Demands\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation. \nAbility to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods \nAbility to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds \nAbility to work safely around machinery, tools, and manufacturing equipment \nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nWork is performed in an environment that may include exposure to manufacturing equipment, moving mechanical parts, noise, fumes, or varying temperatures, depending on the role.\nSAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION\nThis position is designated as safety sensitive.
