This position requires strong mechanical and electrical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to performing safe, reliable, and high-quality work.\nRequirements\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\nThe essential functions listed below represent the primary duties of the position. Duties may vary based on assignment and business needs.\nInstall, repair, and maintain mobility equipment and vehicle conversion systems, including: \nPower and manual wheelchair ramps \nPower transfer seats and swivel seats \nWheelchair lifts and tie-down systems \nHand controls and foot controls \nSteering and driving adaptations \nKneeling systems \nElectrical and electronic components \nWheelchair and occupant restraint systems \nDiagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic problems using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment. \nRead and interpret installation instructions, wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer documentation. \nPerform vehicle disassembly and reassembly while protecting vehicle components and interior surfaces. \nComplete installations according to manufacturer specifications and company quality standards. \nInspect completed work to verify proper operation, safety, fit, and appearance. \nPerform road tests when required to verify repairs and equipment operation. \nIdentify additional repairs or safety concerns and communicate findings to the Service Writer or Manager. \nAccurately document labor, parts used, repairs performed, and diagnostic findings. \nMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. \nProperly use and maintain company tools and equipment. \nFollow all company safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and manufacturer installation guidelines. \nMaintain required productivity and quality standards. \nAssist other technicians when needed and contribute to a positive team environment. \nParticipate in training to remain current on new mobility products, vehicle technology, and installation procedures. \nPerform other duties as assigned by management. \nREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS\nHigh school diploma or GED preferred. \nPrevious experience with automotive electrical systems, vehicle modifications, or adaptive equipment is a plus. \nAbility to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems. \nAbility to read wiring diagrams and technical instructions. \nBasic computer skills. \nValid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. \nAbility to safely operate shop equipment and hand/power tools. \nAbility to work independently while also working effectively as part of a team. \nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nAutomotive, mechanical, electrical, or mobility equipment experience preferred. \nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES\nAbility to follow detailed instructions and safety procedures \nStrong attention to detail and quality standards \nAbility to work independently and in a team environment \nEffective communication and problem-solving skills \nPHYSICAL DEMANDS\nAbility to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and work in various positions throughout the workday. \nAbility to lift and move equipment and components weighing up to 50 pounds. \nAbility to work underneath vehicles and in confined areas. \nAbility to safely use hand tools, power tools, lifts, and diagnostic equipment. \nAbility to work in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, vehicle fluids, and varying temperatures. \nPERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS\nTechnicians are expected to: \nComplete assigned work efficiently and accurately. \nMaintain high-quality workmanship with minimal comebacks. \nFollow installation and repair procedures without compromising safety. \nProperly document all work performed. \nMaintain professional standards when handling customer vehicles and equipment. \nCommunicate repair concerns and delays promptly to management. \nMaintain a clean and organized workstation. \nDemonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic. \nKEY PERFORMANCE METRICS\nLabor hours worked vs. labor hours billed \nTechnician efficiency and productivity \nFirst-time repair completion rate \nWarranty/comeback rate \nQuality inspection results \nAccurate documentation and parts usage \nOn-time completion of assigned work \nSafety and compliance \nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nThis position primarily works in an automotive service and mobility equipment installation facility. The technician may be required to work around vehicles, lifts, electrical systems, power tools, and mobility equipment.
