This position will work closely with Professional Engineers, project managers, mechanical engineers, controls engineers, equipment vendors, utilities, and field personnel to develop accurate and constructible electrical drawings and design documentation.\nThe Electrical Designer will assist with projects involving new generating facilities, plant expansions, equipment replacements, electrical upgrades, and modifications to existing facilities. The successful candidate will have experience producing detailed electrical drawings using AutoCAD and/or other electrical design software and will understand industrial power systems, electrical equipment, and construction practices.\nWork will be performed under the direction and technical supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer.\nKey Responsibilities\nElectrical Design and Drafting\nDevelop and revise electrical drawings for power generation and industrial facilities based on engineering calculations, equipment information, field data, and direction from the project engineer.\nPrepare electrical drawing packages that may include:\no Single-line diagrams\no Three-line diagrams\no Electrical site plans\no Power distribution plans\no Equipment layouts and cable support designs\no Grounding and bonding plans\no Raceway and conduit plans\no Underground raceways and manhole plans and sections\no Cable tray layouts\no Control and wiring diagrams\no Schematic diagrams\no Interconnection diagrams\no Panel schedules\no Equipment termination details\no Electrical construction details\no Separation of voltages in raceways\no Reporting task progress periodically\nDevelop equipment layouts incorporating generators, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, electrical panels, and other electrical equipment.\nAssist engineers in developing electrical distribution systems from generation equipment through plant auxiliary systems and utility interconnections.\nIncorporate equipment specifications into project design packages.\nMaintain drawing standards, title blocks, symbols, details, and electrical CAD libraries.\nEngineering Support\nAssist Professional Engineers with the development of electrical design packages for power generation projects.\nSupport preparation of:\no Equipment specifications\no Electrical equipment schedules\no Load lists\no Cable schedules\no Conduit schedules\no Bills of material\no Construction cost estimates\nSupport engineers performing short-circuit, protective-device coordination, and arc-flash studies by collecting and organizing equipment and system data.\nCoordinate electrical designs with mechanical, structural, civil, instrumentation and controls, and process disciplines.\nReview equipment submittals and vendor drawings for consistency with project drawings and specifications.\nRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nStrong proficiency with AutoCAD. Navisworks 3D familiarity is desired.\nExperience producing electrical construction drawings and detailed design packages.\nWorking knowledge of industrial low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems.\nAbility to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, equipment drawings, and construction documents.\nUnderstanding of electrical equipment including generators, transformers, switchgear, breakers, MCCs, panelboards, UPS systems, batteries, and associated control systems.\nFamiliarity with applicable electrical codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC/NFPA 70).\nAbility to coordinate electrical designs with other engineering disciplines.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy and quality.\nAbility to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.\nEducation and Experience\nEducation\nAssociate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in Electrical Design, Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design Technology, or a related field.\nExperience\n2-4+ years of electrical design or drafting experience in power generation, utilities, industrial facilities, manufacturing, oil and gas, data centers, or similar complex electrical environments preferred.\n\nCompensation and Benefits:\nThis position offers competitive pay and an attractive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, 401(k), and more.\nAbout Vantage Point Solutions\nVantage Point Solutions was founded in 2002 by a team who believed in putting people - both employees and clients - first.
