Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will be responsible for assisting in managing the company’s legal affairs and will engage directly with executives, senior management, and external stakeholders on product and business development, legal and regulatory operations, and other company-wide matters. This position will also play a generalist role and work across the traditional in-house portfolio supporting all departments and functions with legal review and guidance, as well as on broader strategic issues. This role requires someone who can build consensus across diverse groups, lead cross-functional initiatives, and operate with sound judgment in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. \n\nThis is a hybrid role requiring three days per week in the office, preferably at our at our or Washington, D.C. or South San Francisco, CA location.\nKey Responsibilities \nCollaborate with the General Counsel and Director of Compliance to develop and implement legal strategies and policies across the business that supports the company’s overall objectives and growth initiatives. \nOversee the negotiation, drafting, and review of various agreements, including vendor contracts and services and client agreements. \nAssist the General Counsel in managing litigation matters by working with external counsel, conducting legal analysis to develop case strategies and discovery responses, and providing related legal advice to internal teams. \nImplement intellectual property strategies to protect the company’s innovations and assets, provide related legal advice to internal stakeholders, and manage outside counsel intellectual property counsel. \nDevelop and manage a legal operations program with automated and scalable processes to increase the overall effectiveness of the legal services provided to the company. \nAssist in maintaining corporate governance standards and procedures, including drafting materials for board meetings and shareholder communications. \nMonitor legal and regulatory developments in antitrust and financial services law and advise the business on their implications. \nSupport other legal matters as needed, including corporate, compliance, and policy initiatives. \nQualifications/Requirements \nJuris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing. \n12-15 years of combined relevant experience in law firms, government agencies, or in-house legal departments, including at least three years as in-house counsel. \nExcellent commercial negotiation and drafting skills, including experience drafting and negotiating vendor agreements and license terms. \nExperience advising on intellectual property considerations in contract drafting and business transactions. \nExperience in the financial services, fintech, or technology sectors with a knowledge of financial regulations, compliance requirements, and legal issues pertinent to the financial services sector, including the Fair Credit Reporting Act. \nKnowledge of and experience advising on antitrust laws and regulations. \nDemonstrated ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams. \nStrong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills. \nAbility to work autonomously and independently with minimal guidance. \nAdditional \nThe expected total compensation range for this role is $250,000-$380,000, inclusive of base salary and bonus eligibility.\nGenerous Benefits: 401(K) matched up to 7%, Flexible Time Off, 12 Paid Holidays, Medical/Dental/Vision/Wellness benefits, Monthly Team Events, Modern Work/Collaboration Spaces\nJoin Us and Be the Catalyst of Change in Fintech!
