Employment for cleared roles is contingent upon verification of clearance status.\n\nExport Control/ITAR: Certain roles may be subject to U.S. export control laws, requiring U.S. person status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).\nPlease review the job details below.\nThis position requires an active U.S. Government Security Clearance at the TS/SCI level.\nWe are seeking an experienced Back-End Software Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and sustainment of a large-scale data analytics platform supporting a U.S. Government customer. The successful candidate will develop and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance server-side applications, services, APIs, and supporting software components that enable data ingestion, processing, integration, and analytics capabilities.\nThe engineer will work within a multidisciplinary Agile development team, collaborating with data engineers, data scientists, front-end developers, systems engineers, and government stakeholders to deliver reliable, mission-focused software solutions. The role requires strong software engineering fundamentals, experience developing distributed applications, and the ability to contribute throughout the software development lifecycle.\nPrincipal Responsibilities:\nBack-End Application Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable server-side applications, services, microservices, and supporting software components. \nAPI and System Integration: Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and service interfaces to facilitate integration between data platforms, applications, databases, and external systems. \nData Platform Enablement: Build software components and services that support data ingestion, processing, querying, access, and analytics across distributed data environments. \nPerformance, Reliability, and Security: Optimize application performance, troubleshoot complex software issues, and implement appropriate security, authentication, authorization, and error-handling mechanisms. \nAgile Development and Collaboration: Participate in technical design reviews, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD activities, and Agile development ceremonies; collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver and sustain platform capabilities. \nMinimum Qualifications:\nMust be a U.S. Citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance (with willingness to obtain a CI poly)\nBachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information systems, or related field with 8+ years of total professional experience in a technical support role \nDemonstrated experience in software engineering, back-end application development, or a related technical discipline. \nStrong proficiency in at least one modern back-end programming language, such as Python, Java, Go, or C#, with demonstrated experience developing production-quality software. \nExperience designing and developing RESTful APIs, server-side applications, and distributed software components, with proficiency in relational and/or NoSQL databases. \nWillingness to work onsite at least 75% (or as needs dictate) from either Herndon, VA or Westminster, CO.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience developing microservices and distributed applications using frameworks such as Spring Boot, FastAPI, Flask, .NET, or similar technologies. \nFamiliarity with big data technologies and distributed processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, or Elasticsearch. \nExperience with cloud platforms and services, particularly AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. \nFamiliarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. \nExperience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, automated testing, and DevSecOps practices. \nKnowledge of software security principles, secure coding practices, and application security frameworks such as OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect. \nExperience with Agile/Scrum development methodologies, automated software testing, and infrastructure-as-code tools. \nExperience supporting government, defense, intelligence, or other regulated environments. \nPay Transparency: In support of pay transparency at Vantor, we disclose salary ranges on all U.S. job postings.
