The Senior GIS Analyst will work closely with product owners, software engineers, data specialists, and subject-matter experts to deliver accurate, interoperable, and production-ready geospatial content.\nThe ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in GIS data processing, terrain database generation, geospatial automation, and 3D simulation content development. This position also requires the ability to lead technical efforts, establish repeatable workflows, mentor less-experienced analysts, and support delivery within an Agile development environment.\nKey Responsibilities\nLead the preparation and processing of geospatial datasets for synthetic-environment and simulation applications.\nAcquire and compile geospatial data from diverse sources, including satellite imagery, orthorectified and georeferenced imagery, hardcopy charts, field observations, existing maps, OpenStreetMap, and local government sources.\nExtract, digitize, clean, attribute, edit, generalize, validate, and maintain curated vector features, including transportation, hydrography, structures, vegetation, terrain, and other terrain-related content.\nReview and refine AI-extracted features and other machine-assisted source data for geometry, attribution, completeness, usability, and production readiness.\nPerform spatial analysis, coordinate-system transformations, conflation, generalization, and data conversion.\nProcess imagery, vector features, hydrography, transportation networks, structures, vegetation, and other terrain-related data.\nDevelop and enforce GIS data standards, schemas, metadata requirements, and quality-control procedures.\nConduct detailed geospatial quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), including topology validation, geometry checks, attribution reviews, completeness assessments, and positional accuracy evaluations.\nDevelop repeatable workflows and automation scripts to improve data-processing efficiency and consistency.\nProduce technical documentation, processing guides, data dictionaries, test procedures, and project reports.\nSupport software testing, component testing, technical demonstrations, user evaluations, source incorporation, and stakeholder engagements.\nParticipate in Agile planning, sprint reviews, demonstrations, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.\nCollaborate with product owners, engineers, developers, testers, and other GIS professionals.\nProvide mentorship to junior and mid-level analysts.\nWork effectively in security-conscious development environments.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Geomatics, Cartography, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.\nAt least 7 years of professional experience in GIS, geospatial data processing, terrain-data production, or a related field.\nAdvanced working knowledge of Esri ArcGIS, including ArcGIS Pro and/or ArcMap.\nProfessional experience with Safe Software FME for data transformation, translation, validation, and workflow automation.\nWorking knowledge of QGIS and open-source geospatial tools.\nStrong understanding of coordinate reference systems, projections, datums, georeferencing, geospatial data models, and metadata.\nExperience processing common GIS formats, including shapefiles, file geodatabases, GeoPackages, GeoJSON, KML/KMZ, imagery, raster elevation data, and point clouds.\nExperience with geospatial data quality assurance and quality control.\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.\nAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.\nAbility to obtain and maintain any required security clearance.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with terrain database generation or geospatial content development for modeling, simulation, and training systems.\nExperience with 3D GIS, multipatch data, 3D mesh, LiDAR, point clouds, photogrammetry, or digital elevation models.\nExperience using GeoMedia, Global Mapper, OSGViewer, Creator, GIMP, or comparable geospatial visualization tools.\nFamiliarity with spatial databases and enterprise GIS, including PostgreSQL/PostGIS and ArcGIS Enterprise.\nFamiliarity with Agile software development and issue-tracking with Jira.\nFamiliarity with testing, configuration management, version control, and DevSecOps practices.\nExperience working with 3D Tiles.\nFamiliarity with web GIS, OGC services, and geospatial APIs, including WMS, WMTS, WFS, REST, and GeoPackage.\nCompetencies\nData stewardship\nGeospatial analysis\nImagery interpretation\nVector editing and attribution\nQA/QC\nProduction workflow design\nTechnical leadership\nCustomer coordination\nTechnical writing\nSecure-environment operations\nContinuous improvement\nPay Transparency: In support of pay transparency at Vantor, we disclose salary ranges on all U.S. job postings.
