Works from schematics, diagrams, work instructions, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and troubleshooting functions. Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. May assist in the design, construction, test and checkout of test equipment. Uses manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.Job Description\nThe core duties of this position are as follows:\nTest and troubleshooting assemblies and/or final systems.\n\nSetup, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments, and mechanical assemblies.\n\nDetermination and development of test specifications, methods and procedures from blueprints, drawings, and diagrams.\n\nCompleting rework on assemblies and/or systemsto supporttesting.\n\nPreparing technical reports summarizing findings and recommending solutions to technical challenges.\n\nAssisting in the selection and setup of specialized test equipment.\n\nAvailability for frequent travel to other sites to perform above responsibilities.\n\nSKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS\nRequired Certifications and Training\nObtain and complete Varex qualified person (QP) electrical safety training.\n\nExperience Level with Business Tools\nFamiliar with business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.\n\nExperience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.\n\nSkills\nAcquires job skills and learns company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.\n\nAbility to read and understand electrical schematics, block diagrams and work instructions.\n\nExperience at troubleshooting electronic and RF circuitry utilizing tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum and network analyzers, and power meters is desired.\n\nExperience with design and build of prototype electromechanical systems and test boxes is a plus.\n\nKnowledge and understanding of digital and analog circuity are desired.\n\nKnowledge and understanding of AC and DC circuits is desired.\n\nKnowledge and understanding of high voltage power and safety is highly desired.\n\nKnowledge and understanding of RF theory is a big plus.\n\nFamiliarity with 3-phase primary power is a plus.\n\nFamiliarity with radiation safety is a big plus.\n\nFamiliarity with high-energy x-ray sources is a plus.\n\nFamiliarity with ion chambers and radiation measurement techniques is a big plus.\n\nFamiliarity with ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems is a plus.\n\nFamiliarity with compressed gas or refrigerant systems is a plus.\n\nFamiliarity with water cooling systems is a plus.\n\nFamiliarity with PLCs is a plus.\n\nStrong lab book documentation habits are desired.\n\nSkilled in the use of basic hand tools such as wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, hammers, and soldering irons.\n\nClear data communication and presentation skills utilizing programs such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint Outlook, and Word are desired.\n\nAbility to regularly bend, stoop and lift up to 50 lbs.\n\nMay work with material handling equipment such as pallet jacks, overhead cranes, and forklifts to move and secure heavy assemblies.\n\nJob Complexity\nSome work may be routine, and some may be one off, generally requiring good judgment to avoid hazards and equipment damage. Has a limited role in decision making.\n\nSupervision\nInstructions and supervision should be expected initially. Training will be accomplished in pairs due to associated testing hazards.
