This role drives technical decision-making, ensures system scalability and reliability, and influences engineering standards and practices across teams.\nImpact of the Role\nDrives development of scalable, high-performance platform services that support enterprise growth and platform adoption\nImproves system reliability, performance, and maintainability across the platform\nEnables reuse and consistency through well-designed services and shared components\nInfluences engineering standards and architectural direction across teams\nDrives technical consistency and reuse across teams by establishing patterns adopted beyond immediate scope\nWHAT YOU WILL DO:\nDesign and build scalable, high-performance backend systems and services\nLead technical design and solution architecture decisions for features and components\nOwn major services or platform components, ensuring reliability and performance\nDrive resolution of complex, cross-system production issues, including root cause analysis\nEstablish and promote engineering best practices, standards, and reusable patterns\nMentor and develop engineers across levels, providing technical guidance and coaching\nCollaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to align technical solutions with business needs\nContribute to and influence platform architecture and long-term system design\nDesign and contribute to reusable platform services and shared capabilities that enable multiple teams to build on common infrastructure\nKey Performance Indicators\nSuccess in this role will be measured through:\nReliability and scalability of owned systems and services\nReduction in technical debt and system inefficiencies\nInfluence on engineering standards, practices, and design quality\nEffectiveness in mentorship and team capability development\nContribution to platform-level outcomes and system performance\nImprovement in system scalability, reuse, and platform adoption across teams\nKnowledge, Skills, Abilities\nThe ideal candidate will demonstrate the following capabilities:\nTechnical Knowledge\nDeep understanding of:\nDistributed systems and service-based architecture\nAPI design and integration patterns\nCloud-native architecture and system scalability\nStrong grasp of performance, reliability, and system design principles\nTechnical Skills\nAdvanced proficiency in backend engineering (Java, APIs, services)\nAbility to:\nDesign scalable architectures and services\nOptimize system performance and reliability\nLead complex debugging and root cause analysis\nExperience with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and system observability tools\nCognitive & Problem-Solving Abilities\nSolves complex, ambiguous technical problems across systems\nAnticipates risks and proactively mitigates issues\nApplies system-level thinking to design and solution development\nCollaboration & Influence\nInfluences technical direction and engineering standards across teams\nPartners effectively with cross-functional stakeholders\nDrives alignment on technical solutions and approaches\nLeadership Without Authority\nDemonstrates technical leadership and influence without formal authority\nMentors and develops engineers, strengthening team capability and performance\nShapes engineering culture and best practices\nEducation, Certification and Experience\nRequired:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience\n5-8+ years of software engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of systems or services\nPhysical Demands and/or Work Environment\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
