This position plays an important role in supporting campus events, daily operations, and the overall appearance and functionality of College facilities.\nThe General Services Technician provides event setup and tear-down support, including the delivery, setup, relocation, and storage of tables, chairs, risers, flags, floor coverings, pipe and drape, audio/visual equipment, and other event-related materials. The position also assists with office moves, furniture relocation, large deliveries, recycling collection, and stocking of departmental supplies throughout campus.\nThe position will also assist with custodial responsibilities and respond to custodial needs and emergencies as assigned. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment and will take pride in providing excellent service to students, faculty, staff, and campus guests.\nThis position will work closely with the General Services Supervisor and may provide direction to student workers during event setup and tear-down activities. The ability to read and follow work orders and room diagrams, organize work efficiently, meet deadlines, and work effectively as part of a team is essential.\nResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:\nSet up and tear down tables, chairs, risers, flags, pipe and drape, floor tarps, and other event equipment.\nAssist with audio/visual setups under the direction of the General Services Supervisor.\nTransport, deliver, unload, set up, and store equipment and supplies for campus events.\nOperate College vehicles for on-campus and off-campus deliveries.\nPerform office moves, including relocating furniture, records, supplies, and equipment.\nDeliver and stock departmental and central supply materials.\nDeliver large copy paper orders and other large shipments.\nAssist with unloading and transporting large deliveries throughout campus.\nComplete daily recycling pickups.\nAssist with custodial work and respond to custodial emergencies as needed.\nOperate custodial equipment and other equipment necessary to perform assigned duties.\nAttend weekly event meetings and follow event safety procedures.\nProvide direction and assistance to student workers during event setup and tear-down.\nWork assigned weekends as part of a rotating schedule.\nProvide courteous and professional customer service to the campus community.\n Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent.\nThree (3) years of special event, facilities, general services, or related experience.\nValid driver’s license.\nAbility to operate heavy cleaning equipment.\nAbility to operate a forklift; annual training will be provided.\nAbility to read and understand work orders and room diagrams.\nStrong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and complete work efficiently.\nAbility to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.\nStrong interpersonal and customer service skills.\nAbility to perform physically demanding work, including walking, lifting, climbing, crawling, pushing, pulling, and carrying.\nAbility to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds.\nAbility to routinely assemble and lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds overhead.\nAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, rain, sleet, and snow.\n Preferred QualificationsExperience with stage assembly and event setup.\nKnowledge of event and technical safety regulations.\nExperience using hand and power tools.\nExperience with custodial equipment and general facility operations.\nForklift operation training or certification.\nKnowledge of workplace safety practices, including Blood-Borne Pathogens, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Ladder Safety.\nPrevious experience working in a college, university, event, facilities, or general services environment.\n ScheduleThis is a full-time position with a schedule that may vary based on campus events and operational needs.
