The company plans to develop future habitats and systems for the Moon and Mars, dedicated space stations for government partners, and other crewed systems that will unlock the expanding long-term space economy.\nVast is looking for a Test Technician, reporting to the Manager, Hardware Development to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.\nThe Hardware Development team takes pride in crafting cutting-edge mechanisms, fluid systems, and electronics to test hardware critical to the Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) to support life onboard our artificial-gravity commercial space station . This is a crucial role, as it involves planning and executing testing of components that are absolutely critical to the safety of future astronauts and passengers.\nThis will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location. \nShift: \nFirst Shift: 6am - 2:30pm \nSecond Shift: 2pm - 10:30pm \nResponsibilities: \nFabricate, clean, and activate ground support equipment and test articles in partnership with engineering, with a focus on pressurized ground systems\nOperate, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and modify manufacturing and testing equipment, including pressurized systems from vacuum to 20,000 psig, pneumatic and hydraulic, oxygen systems, refrigerant systems, and data and control systems\nSupport development, acceptance, qualification, and investigative test campaigns via build and operation of ground support and flight equipment\nMaintain laboratory and workshop, including cleanliness, stocking of consumables, tool control, and supporting design and build infrastructure to support above activities\nRead and interpret technical drawings and work instructions in support of above activities \nMinimum Qualifications:\n2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing, test, operations, HVAC or other relevant role\nHigh School Diploma or equivalency certificate \nPreferred Skills & Experience:\nExperience in the aerospace, power and gas, military, or other high-reliability manufacturing industry\nExperience in the HVAC or industrial gas industry\nExperience with precision cleaning and assembly of precision-cleaned systems\nExperience working in a cleanroom environment\nExperience building, modifying, troubleshooting, maintaining, and operating high pressure equipment\nExperience building, modifying, troubleshooting, maintaining, and operating automation and control systems, including data acquisition systems, programmable logic controllers, etc\nExperience with hazardous systems - cryogenic, flammable, pyrophoric, hypergolic, or high voltage\nDemonstrated success in a role requiring quick thinking and problem solving\nExperience with forklifts, cranes, aerial platforms, and other industrial equipment\nExperience with JIRA project management software and Confluence\nExperience with relevant aerospace testing standards (SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-810G, GSFC-STD-7000B, etc.)\nSkilled in operation of machinery and hand tools\nAble to work effectively in a team environment\nComfortable working in a rapidly changing, ambiguous environment balancing multiple projects with flexibility\nAdditional Requirements:\nWillingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones\nAbility to lift up to 25lbs unassisted\nPay Range: California\n$21.33—$50 USD\nWe calibrate level and compensation to the selected candidate's experience and demonstrated capability.
