Works in support of the local Community of Care (CoC) service delivery model, primary care network, and in accordance with VCH policies and procedures.\nAbout Care for Newcomers Clinic:\nThe Care for Newcomers clinic provides an exciting opportunity to connect with clients of diverse cultural backgrounds and to make a meaningful impact in their health care journeys as newcomers to Canada.\nThe Care for Newcomer’s Clinic is serving government assisted refugee clients and their families who have newly arrived in Canada. The clinic supports clients through post arrival health assessments to identify pre-existing, chronic or acute medical conditions and assists in connecting them to care as needed. We have an inter-disciplinary team that includes nurses, physicians and administrative assistants working within a team-based care model. Most of our clients require support with navigation to access healthcare services and community resources and require language assistance via interpreters/interpretation tools. Apply today to join our team!\nQualifications\nEducation & Experience\nGrade 12, graduation from a Medical Office Assistant program, one (1) year of recent, related clinical medical office support experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.\nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities\nDemonstrated knowledge of clinical policies, procedures and objectives.\nDemonstrated knowledge of community resources and agencies.\nDemonstrated knowledge of office procedures.\nBusiness writing skills.\nKnowledge of medical terminology.\nDemonstrated ability to perform basic medical tests and accurately record results in medical files.\nDemonstrated ability to respond independently and effectively to emergent situation and effectively present health information to individuals.\nDemonstrated ability to keyboard 5,000 keystrokes per hour.\nDemonstrated customer service and communication skills.\nPhysical ability to perform the duties of the position.\nDemonstrated ability to work independently and within a team.\nDemonstrated ability to prioritize and organize workload and meet deadlines.\nDemonstrated ability to establish and maintain satisfactory work relationships with clients and staff.\nDemonstrated ability to deal tactfully and effectively with coworkers, clients and staff from other agencies.\nDemonstrated skill in using a variety of office equipment and computer software programs.\nClosing Statement\nThe hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
