We love what we do, our VECommunity, and helping the best build better.\nOverview\nAs a Survey/3D Laser Scanning Technician, you will be responsible for performing and documenting visual observations, maintaining continuity between office and field teams, and utilizing technology to ensure quality control of the installation process. You will work closely with field crews, foremen, superintendents and project managers to ensure constructability, accuracy, and seamless execution of the project.\nWhat You Will Do\nDocumentation and Reporting\nCentralizing project data and implementing an organized system for real-time information access.\nQuality Assurance Observations\nPerform unbiased third-party observations to identify discrepancies and potential risks to help mitigate accidents and injuries on-site.\nOnsite Support\nUtilizing technology to collect data and producing visual content which communicates as-built conditions.\nClient Collaboration & Problem Solving\n Work closely with field crews, foremen, superintendents and project managers to optimize project success.\nAdditionally, you will support field team, contribute to process improvements, and stay up to date on the latest technology that can provide value to the project.\nKey Responsibilities\nDocumentation and Reporting\nOrganizing and managing all project-related data in one centralized location for consistency and convenience\nCreating a streamlined and organized system to ensure project teams have access to accurate, real-time information\nDocument, report and maintain all observations to ensure that issues are resolved in a timely manner\nQuality Assurance Observations\nPerform unbiased third-party observations at all stages of construction to ensure proper installation techniques and compliance with project plans and requirements\nIdentifying deviations from the project plans, design specifications and model\nIdentifying safety and quality-related risks to help mitigate accidents and injuries on-site that may impact the installation process, project's timeline, budget, or overall success\nOnsite Support\nPerform regular site walks with the 360 camera for documenting progress, completed work and highlight any issues\nCapture existing conditions with the 3D laser scanner, pre and post install, to identify discrepancies and potential issues\nUtilize a robotic total station (RTS) to support layout activities\nOperate UAS (drone) systems to capture aerial imagery of existing jobsite conditions for observation and analysis\nCompare model against collected data to ensure that the digital model represents the real-world construction elements accurately and producing visual content which communicates as-built conditions\nClient Collaboration & Problem Solving\nWorking closely with project teams to streamline communication and operations, ensuring that information flows seamlessly between the office and the field\nAttend weekly meetings, present issues, and contribute to problem resolution\nWork hand-in-hand with field teams to address constructability concerns and assist in providing solutions\nWhat We're Looking For\nExperience: 1+ years in construction\nFlexibility: Ability to travel for work for 2 weeks - 18 months at a time and/or ability to relocate\nProblem-Solving Mindset: Ability to identify and analyze issues and provide constructible solutions\nTechnical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of Scan Registration software, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Procore\nCoordination & Clash Detection: Understanding of multidisciplinary coordination efforts in BIM\nCommunication Skills: Strong ability to collaborate with contractors, project managers, and field teams\nIndustry Expertise: Familiarity with construction terminology and means and methods\nExtreme Ownership Mentality: Take full responsibility for quality control solutions, project success, and team collaboration\nWork Environment\nCandidates must reside within commuting distance to Cedar Rapids, Iowa.\nThe role is 100% onsite, no hybrid work schedules are available\nCollaborative environment (virtual or in person) with frequent team meetings and project briefings\nSome travel may be required depending on the location of the projects\nVEC is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer.
