In 2025, the company achieved 99.99% two-qubit gate fidelity, setting a world record in quantum computing performance.\nHeadquartered in College Park, Maryland, IonQ has operations in California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Washington, Italy, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Our quantum computing services are available through all major cloud providers, while we also meet the needs of networking and sensing customers across land, sea, air, and space. IonQ is making quantum platforms more accessible and impactful than ever before.\nAbout Vector Atomic:\nVector Atomic, an IonQ company, is building quantum technology to transform navigation, timing, geophysical exploration, and telecommunications. Our team of engineers, scientists, software developers, and operations professionals works together to solve complex challenges and turn bold ideas into real-world solutions. We value collaboration, curiosity, and diverse perspectives, and we give every team member the opportunity to make an immediate impact while growing their skills. If you're excited to work on breakthrough technology in a fast-paced, hands-on environment, we'd love to hear from you.\nVector Atomic is hiring electrical engineers to build ultraprecise quantum devices for applications that include autonomous/GPS-free navigation, high-bandwidth satellite communications, and geophysical exploration. This hands-on role requires strong electronic design skills with emphasis on analog and mixed-signal circuits. We are seeking strong individual contributors who can take ownership of their work while supporting overall team goals. Vector Atomic produces a large volume of custom PCBAs for both manufacturing and R&D projects.\n\nLocation: This role is based onsite at our office in Pleasanton, CA (Bay Area)\nRequirements\nWhat You’ll Do\nWork with a cross-functional team of physicists, electronics engineers, firmware programmers and optical engineers to create next-generation quantum instruments.\nDesign, implement and verify analog and mixed signal circuits for precision INS instruments. This work requires an understanding of electronic noise sources, measurement techniques and mitigation strategies. New hires will need to have a solid understanding of these principles and the ability to learn quickly and solve design challenges. \nDevelop schematics in Altium. Apply layout techniques to improve signal integrity.\nSelect parts and work with purchasing to procure, fabricate and assemble PCBAs. \nAssist with board “bring-up” and debugging. Use laboratory test equipment such as scopes, signal generators and spectrum analyzers to test and validate your designs.\nDocument results and create test procedures to collaborate with software engineers and provide support and technical guidance as they program and interact with your circuits.\nContribute to our goals of continuous improvement by documenting issues, rework and feature requests using project tracking tools.\nWhat We're Looking For\nBSEE/MSEE Degree with substantial course/lab/intern work in analog circuit design. Other technical degrees will be considered, with 2+ years of directly relevant experience.\nTo comply with the US export control laws, Vector Atomic employees must be U.S. citizens (born or naturalized), lawful U.S. permanent residents (i.e. green card holders), and certain categories of refugees, and asylees.\nMust be comfortable working in a laboratory environment.\nAbility to communicate effectively with coworkers and collaborators, both written and verbal.\nRequired expertise:\nExperience using Altium design tools to create schematics, BOMS and layouts for complex PCBAs. Must be able and willing to perform placement and routing in Altium to meet complex performance requirements. \nExpertise with analog and mixed-signal circuit design. \nTraining/expertise with POL power supply circuit design.\nSimulation of circuits using Spice.\nLaboratory test and measurement equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators and DVMs.\nNice-to-have expertise:\nDesign training/expertise with EDA tools for signal integrity\nExperience designing boards with Microcontrollers and FPGAs\nPrevious expertise with low-power design techniques and power supply design is a plus.\nExperience writing test code for scripting languages such as Python or TCL to control laboratory equipment. \nBenefits\nVector Atomic values teamwork, open and honest discourse, and work-life balance. We offer competitive compensation and benefits including:\nPlatinum-level family health coverage (medical, dental, vision)\nHealth and dependent care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)\nEmployer 401(k) contributions\n20 days of paid time off / 11 paid holidays\nPaid parental leave\nFully stocked kitchen\n\nPay Range\nThe approximate base salary range for this position is $80,000 to $120,000 per year.
