In this key role within our Personalization team, you will design and implement machine learning solutions that enhance customer experience across our digital channels and drive measurable business impact. You will collaborate closely with fellow data scientists and engineers across the full machine learning lifecycle, taking a broad, hands-on role in data generation and exploration, model development, evaluation, and deployment.\nThis is full-time, permanent position and located at Veikkaus headquarters in Pohjois-Haaga, Helsinki. To foster collaboration and effective teamwork we work in a hybrid model with three on-site days per week. Please note that this job requires a valid residence permit for all non-EU citizens.\nYour responsibilities will include (but are not limited to)\nDesign, build, and optimize production-grade recommendation engines and personalization models\nDevelop algorithms for dynamic content ranking, cross-sell/up-sell, churn prediction, and personalized player journeys in a responsible gaming context\nBuild and connect the full production loop: from data and feature pipelines to real-time model serving, online A/B testing, and continuous optimization with engineering and product teams\nTake full ownership of your models across the entire lifecycle from data generation and investigation to deployment proactively finding ways to make the product better every day\nBuild, monitor, and iterate on production ML workflows using modern MLOps practices (CI/CD for ML, model monitoring, feature stores) to ensure reliable, real-world performance\nDesign and analyze rigorous A/B tests and experiments to quantify model performance and business impact.\nLeverage modern agentic coding tools and AI-assisted workflows to build and iterate faster, backed by a strong intuitive grasp of the underlying algorithms, data behavior, and production system architecture\nTranslate business goals into technical metrics and actionable data science problems \nThis role is for you if you\nExtensive experience (3+ years) in data science, with a strong focus on building and deploying recommendation systems or personalization solutions in production environments (e.g., e-commerce, gaming, media, AdTech). You also have hands-on experience with ML engineering practices, including building, orchestrating, and maintaining reliable end-to-end data and feature pipelines for training and inference.\nWe also need you to have:\nStrong programming skills in Python and solid experience with modern ML frameworks (e.g. PyTorch, TensorFlow)\nDeep understanding of machine learning algorithms and techniques (e.g., collaborative filtering, two-tower retrieval models, gradient-boosted trees, learning-to-rank, and causal inference). \nGood SQL skills and experience working with large-scale data in cloud environments (e.g. Snowflake/BigQuery)\nFamiliarity with MLOps concepts and tools (e.g., model versioning, CI/CD for ML, monitoring; experience with Azure/AWS/GCP is a plus)\nStrong business acumen and the ability to link technical work to business KPIs\nYou have excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, \"can-do\" attitude.
