Based on principles of agile project management, AGILE Interns will make meaningful and tangible contributions to VELCO’s strategic projects to protect reliability and affordability of the transmission system.\nHow you will make an impact\nWe’re seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Vegetation Management Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience in supporting field and analytical activities that help ensure vegetation near VELCO’s transmission lines are identified, managed, and maintained in accordance with established standards and cycles.\nIn this role, you’ll gain hands-on experience with field work, environmental awareness, GIS technology, data analysis and relationship building while contributing directly to the reliability of Vermont’s electric grid.\nExamples include:\nVegetation inventory and field assessment.\nTreatment polygon and landowner data management.\nCCAA plot activities.\nSignoff and foot patrol.\nData analysis and reporting.\nWho you are\nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in forestry, natural resources, environmental science, arboriculture, GIS, or a related field\nKnowledge/Skills\nBasic understanding of vegetation management, forestry, arboriculture, or natural resource practices. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Eagerness to learn and contribute to a collaborative environment.\nPhysical & Mental Demands\nThis position requires significant field work and the ability to safely navigate transmission rights-of-way, wooded areas, uneven terrain, steep slopes, and other outdoor environments. The position may require: Walking extended distances through wooded and uneven terrain. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and climbing over natural obstacles. Working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Reliable transportation required.\n Compensation Range:\n$15.00 - $18.50 - $22.00/hour This compensation range represents the minimum, midpoint and maximum pay for this position. Individual offers will be based on various factors including, but not limited to, qualifications, education, skills, competencies, and experience. Please note that most offers for new employees fall under the midpoint of the range, allowing room for continued salary growth.
