Headquartered in Boston, Veolia has more than 10,000 employees working at more than 350 locations across North America.\n Position Purpose:\nResponsible for safely transporting hazardous and non-hazardous materials from the customer site to the\nappropriate designated sites using van trailers, straight trucks, flatbeds, tankers, roll-off frames, or other waste\ncarrying equipment. Ensures that the condition of the material packaging meets the U.S. Department of\nTransportation (DOT) specifications, inspects manifests and shipping paperwork for accuracy, and maintains\ncurrent transportation permits for all areas traveled. Abides by all regulations set forth by DOT, EPA, state and\nlocal governments, and VES-TS policies and procedures.\nPrimary Duties /Responsibilities:\nPerform daily inspections of vehicle and/or trailer prior to driving to ensure the safety and integrity of equipment going to designated sites.\nPrior to transporting materials reviews shipment records, manifests, container labeling, vehicle placards, and integrity of loaded drums, roll-off boxes or bulk tankers.\nDriving within the local market, ensures that DOT requirements such as load weight limits, driver log books, Vehicle Inspection Records, transportation permits, insurance cards, fuel trip reports, IFTA fuel stickers, or other paperwork is up to date and valid.\nConsults with customers pertaining to load conditions, drum counts or paperwork inconsistencies to ensure that materials can be properly transported to designated site(s).\nNotify immediate supervisor of any moving violations and/or accidents in-route to and/or from sites.\nAssist in the loading/unloading of materials at designated sites utilizing appropriate equipment.\nResponsible for assisting with housekeeping as required.\nOther duties as assigned\n Education / Experience / Background:\nHigh School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required\nPrior commercial driving experience required\nKnowledge / Skills / Abilities:\nFamiliarity with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations pertaining to the transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous materials\nStrong team player\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills\nTime management: the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks\nStrong customer service orientation\nRequired Certification / Licenses / Training:\nValid Commercial B License minimum \nHazmat (H) & Tanker endorsement required\n40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferred\n Pay Range: $30 to $32 per hour\nBenefits: Veolia’s comprehensive benefits package includes paid time off policies, as well as health, dental, vision, life insurance, savings accounts, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteering and more.
