Headquartered in Boston, Veolia has more than 10,000 employees working at more than 350 locations across North America.\n Position Purpose:\nResponsible for safely transporting hazardous and non-hazardous materials from the customer site to the\nappropriate designated sites using van trailers, straight trucks, flatbeds, tankers, 48' - 53' manual dry van with a lift gate, or other waste carrying equipment. Ensures that the condition of the material packaging meets the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) specifications, inspects manifests and shipping paperwork for accuracy, and maintains current transportation permits for all areas traveled. Abides by all regulations set forth by DOT, EPA, state and local governments, and VES-TS policies and procedures.\nPrimary Duties /Responsibilities:\nPerform daily inspections of vehicle and/or trailer prior to driving to ensure the safety and integrityof equipment going to designated sites.\n\nPrior to transporting materials reviews shipment records, manifests, container labeling, vehicleplacards, and integrity of loaded drums, or bulk tankers.\n\nEnsure that DOT requirements such as load weight limits, driver log books, Vehicle InspectionRecords, transportation permits, insurance cards, fuel trip reports, IFTA fuel stickers, or other\npaperwork is up to date and valid.\n\nConsults with customers pertaining to load conditions, drum counts or paperwork inconsistenciesto ensure that materials can be properly transported to designated site(s).\n\nNotify immediate supervisor of any moving violations and/or accidents in-route to and/or fromsites.\n\nAssist in the loading/unloading of materials at designated sites utilizing appropriate equipment.\nResponsible for assisting with housekeeping as required.\nOther duties as assigned\n Education / Experience / Background:\nHigh School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required \nPrior commercial driving experience preferred\nKnowledge / Skills / Abilities:\nFamiliarity with U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations pertaining to thetransportation of hazardous and non-hazardous materials\n\nStrong team player\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills\nTime management: the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks\nStrong customer service orientation\nRequired Certification / Licenses / Training:\nValid Class A Commercial Driving License (CDL) as required\nHazmat (H) endorsement required\n40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferred\n Pay Range: $30 to $34 per hour\nBenefits: Veolia’s comprehensive benefits package includes paid time off policies, as well as health, dental, vision, life insurance, savings accounts, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteering and more.
