In this role, you will operate, troubleshoot, repair, and perform minor maintenance on automated equipment. A deep understanding of both machine operations and product build is essential to maximize production yields and equipment uptime. We are looking for an individual dedicated to high-quality workmanship who can consistently meet scheduling deadlines and exceed customer expectations.\nDuties & Responsibilities:\nObserve all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) rules, including housekeeping practices; participate in EHS meetings, investigations, and audits. Proactively communicate and address safety concerns\nFollow all life-critical policies and procedures (Lock-out/Tag-Out, Confined Space Entry, Line-Break)\nSet up, clean, and monitor machine operations according to standard operating instructions\nUnderstand department safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, and production goals; actively engage in meeting these goals\nMove and inspect raw materials and products to ensure there are no visual defects; take corrective action as needed\nPerform checks to ensure accuracy per product specifications, ensure overall product quality, and track in manual logs or computer system to capture deviations and quality traceability data\nPerform material disposition on all work-in-process (WIP) parts as assigned\nInterrupt machine operation as necessary to correct operating problems; minimize production of materials that do not meet specifications by quickly taking action and using investigative, troubleshooting, and mechanical skills\nAccurately measure work in process (WIP) and finished goods \nCommunicate technical issues promptly to all levels (managers, co-workers, maintenance, engineers, etc.) \nAssist in training other operators\nAssist with failures & perform regular minor preventive maintenance\nPerform troubleshooting to solve equipment malfunctions\nPerform complete setup, adjustments, startup, and shutdown of all equipment in the area\nKeep accurate records and explain any discrepancies, if necessary\nPerform any additional duties as assigned by Supervisor or Lead\nTasks specifically related to the Membrane or E-SEP Department: Conduct handling and mixing of chemicals according to prescribed formulas and procedures (strong acids, bases, and solvents are used in regular process) \nContain, label, store, and transfer hazardous waste according to applicable regulations \nMay be required to unload and test bulk chemical tankers \n\nThe job description is not designed to capture all the employee’s responsibilities but is intended to capture essential functions of the role. Responsibilities may change over time and may be assigned at any time. \n Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:\nKnowledgeable with computer applications, including basic functions in Google Suite and Microsoft Office\nBasic SAP Knowledge\nStrong mathematical and mechanical aptitude\nStrong communication skills both verbally and written\nHigh attention to detail\nEducation & Experience:\nRequired\nHigh School Diploma, GED, or equivalent\n1 year of experience as a machine operator, chemical mixer/handler, machinist, or military service in a technical background, including job experience performing shop math calculations such as fraction and decimal equivalents, machine operation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of automated equipment\nPreferred\nExperience with forklift operations, LOTO operations, and confined space operations (HVAC HEPA Filter Changes) \nExperience participating in the development of work instructions and operating guides\nLean manufacturing experience\nQuality inspection experience\nPrevious experience performing setup, troubleshooting, and operation of automated machines\nExperience with tasks specifically related to the Membrane or E-SEP Department: Use of lab equipment such as FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy), UV-Vis (ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy), Karl Fischer, viscometer, conductivity meter, micrometer, or other similar lab equipment \nFamiliarity with plumbing/ fluid transfer basics including valve orientation, air bleeding, isolation, and more \nTroubleshooting a continuous web or paper handling process \n\nWork Conditions:\nWork may take place with chemicals, including reactive chemicals, solvents, acids, and bases\nMust be able to work overtime and may be required to come in 4 hours early or stay 4 hours late to ensure lines remain running\nWork may consist of a rotating schedule that includes regular weekend coverage\nAbility to lift/handle up to 50 pounds\nMust wear personal protective equipment at all times when required (safety glasses, gloves, earplugs, safety shoes, and, on an intermittent basis, respirator protection in the form of a PAPR) \n Join a company that values Responsibility, Solidarity, Innovation, Customer Focus, and Respect.
