Headquartered in Boston, Veolia has more than 10,000 employees working at more than 350 locations across North America.\n Position Purpose:\nUnder supervision, inspects and performs various manual laboring duties including the operation of laboring equipment related to sewer and concrete repairs, sewer cleaning, or the cleaning and maintenance of buildings, grounds, watercourses, deep tunnels, or equipment.\nPrimary Duties/Responsibilities:\nRequired to follow all applicable safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in performance of assigned duties. Is required to participate in all required safety training activities. Is expected to report any unsafe conditions encountered in performance of duties.\nSet up, operate, and make minor repairs to pumps, compressors and other mechanical equipment.\nInspect and assist in the repair and maintenance to manholes, sewers, tanks, wells, flumes, culverts, pipes, pump stations, spillage overflows, etc.\nClean pump stations, plants, aeration tanks, clarifiers, U-drains, catch basins, weirs, flumes, spillage overflows, etc.\nAssist in the inspection of interceptors, gates, outfalls, and pump stations; take appropriate action such as removing debris, raking screens, and reporting malfunctions.\nPerform general maintenance and repair to facilities, buildings and grounds.\nSet up rooms for functions.\nMaintain landscaping, tree trimming and removal, and operate various lawn maintenance equipment; clear snow from designated areas.\nLocate, maintain, and set up temporary field offices upon request; regrade roads and areas around manholes and other District facilities.\nFlush, jet, and vactor sewers and measuring stations, etc.; read and maintain river gauges; measure depth of flow for purpose of maintenance and troubleshooting of the sewer systems.\nPerform general carpentry duties and miscellaneous concrete/masonry duties, such as manhole rehabilitation grouting, slabs, etc.\nAssist in the installation of damboards and guides, clean and maintain inside and outside drops.\nProvide assistance to other workgroups as needed.\nPick up and deliver parts and materials for other work groups.\nAssist in the inspection of deep tunnels and related facilities; take appropriate action such as debris removal and general maintenance.\nObserves and reports to supervisor dangerous conditions or conditions requiring maintenance.\nPerforms other duties of a similar level and nature as assigned.\nWork Environment:\nWork involves exposures to dirt, dust, extremes in temperature and humidity, odors, heights, confined spaces, gases, raw sewage, hazardous materials.\n Education/Experience/Background:\nHigh School Diploma/GED is required.\n1 - 2 years of related experience.\nKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:\nAbility to properly identify and use job-related tools, gauges, equipment and machinery in compliance with safety procedures.\nStrong mechanical aptitude.\nCommunicates effectively via written and oral methods with co-workers, supervisors, managers, and others when necessary.\nAbility to enter data.\nBasic skills in computers and data input devices, email, application and office software.\nRequired Certification/Licenses/Training:\nFirst aid and CPR certification within six months of appointment.\nValid Wisconsin CDL driver’s license - class A, B, C.
