Headquartered in Boston, Veolia has more than 10,000 employees working at more than 350 locations across North America.\n Position Purpose:\nWe are seeking a skilled and motivated Wastewater Plant Operator to oversee the daily operation and maintenance of our wastewater treatment facility. The role includes both inside and outside operations, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, proper use of the filter press, and maintaining the facility’s efficiency and safety.\nPrimary Duties/Responsibilities:\nInside Operations:Monitor and adjust plant processes using SCADA systems and other control interfaces.\nAnalyze data from flow meters, pressure gauges, and analytical equipment to optimize operations.\nPerform routine laboratory testing of water samples to ensure compliance with discharge permits.\nDocument plant performance, operational adjustments, and maintenance activities in logs and reports.\n\nOutside Operations:Inspect and maintain pumps, valves, clarifiers, aeration tanks, digesters, and other equipment.\nCollect samples from various points in the treatment process for laboratory testing.\nPerform general upkeep of the plant grounds, including clearing debris and maintaining access areas.\nTroubleshoot equipment malfunctions and assist with repairs as needed.\n\nFilter Press Operations:Operate and maintain the filter press to dewater sludge efficiently.\nMonitor the feed pressure, cake thickness, and overall performance of the filter press.\nClean and perform preventative maintenance on the filter press to ensure consistent operation.\n\nSafety & Compliance:Adhere to all local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.\nRespond promptly to emergencies such as equipment failures or environmental incidents.\nParticipate in safety training and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.\n\nTeamwork & Communication:Collaborate with other plant staff to troubleshoot issues and develop operational improvements.\nCommunicate with supervisors about operational status, equipment needs, and maintenance schedules.\nTrain and mentor junior staff or trainees as required.\n\nWork Environment:\nWork is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings, subject to exposure to extreme weather conditions, loud noise, and hazardous materials.\n Education/Experience/Background:\nHigh School Diploma/GED is required.\nA degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field is a plus.\nAt least 2 years of experience in wastewater treatment or a related field.\nFamiliarity with filter press operations and dewatering processes is strongly preferred.\nKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:\nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills.\nProficiency in using computerized systems for monitoring and data analysis.\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team.\nEffective written and verbal communication skills.\nKnowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, motors, and hydraulic systems.\nRequired Certification/Licenses/Training:\nValid California SWRCB Wastewater Operator Certification.\nPhysical Requirements:\nThis position requires standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting objects up to 40 lbs.\nPhysical ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including confined spaces and outdoors.\n Pay Range: $37.00 to $43.00 Per Hour.\nBenefits: Veolia’s comprehensive benefits package includes paid time off policies, as well as health, dental, vision, life insurance, savings accounts, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteering and more.
