Headquartered in Boston, Veolia has more than 10,000 employees working at more than 350 locations across North America.\n Position Purpose:\nSupervise and coordinate operations such as kiln, boiler, Turbine generator conditions, receiving, materials processing, and unit operations to assist in meeting the plant's production goals in a safely manner. Performs emergency coordinator functions as well as daily compliance checks. Ensures security of the facility. Monitors fire protection system and conducts daily inspections. Conduct shift field walks to verify conditions and operators assignments to monitor the field plant operation and to prevent downtime from equipment changes.\nPrimary Duties/responsibilities:\nConducts start of shift toolbox meeting discussing safety concerns, planned activity, and future events. \nCoordinates daily activities of operating and production personnel. Supports goals/objectives of Operations Department. \nMaintains accurate log of shift activity including production, power, mechanical breakdowns, repair work, and operating mode. \nPoint of contact for communication with employees inside and outside of plant. \nWork flexible schedule that may includes nights, weekends and holidays. \nMonitor control panels make adjustments on DCS. \nMonitor and control boiler, steam turbine generator operation, and air pollution control equipment.\nMonitor flow meters, gauges, flow ratios, pressures and related controls through instrument panels, computer terminals and programmable logic control units. \nMonitor and document operating conditions/observations and data in daily shift log. \nTroubleshoot operational and mechanical problems including combustion, power generation, and air pollution control. Take corrective action as necessary. \nVerify and report suspected malfunctions and variances as directed and take corrective actions.\nIssue work requests and support repair scheduling. \nCreates and distributes staffing schedule. \nManagees/coordinates response to all shift emergencies as necessary. Implements contingency plan as instructed & makes necessary notifications. \nComply with appearance and dress policies to ensure a safe and professional work environment.\nWork effectively in a team environment and provide support and assistance to others. \nAssist with collecting data and completing reports/ projects to support business operations \nLead special projects to improve safety, operations, and employee development \nTrain other employees to safely and properly use equipment at site. \nTake initiative to offer solutions and assist in problem solving at site. \nPromptly responds to all incidents and injuries. \nPromptly reports all equipment malfunctions. \nCoordinates the clean up of any shift spills. \nConducts incident investigations and documents a summary of the incident including date and time of the incident, date and time the investigation began, date and time the incident was reported, the employee and equipment involved, direct causes, contributing factors, and any corrective actions to prevent recurrence. \nPerforms RCRA inspections as required. Resolves all identified issues immediately, if possible or initiates a Remedial Work Order (RWO). \nDirects personnel to ensure good housekeeping throughout facility. \nEnsures security of plant site; i.e. gates and buildings locked. \nCompletes daily compliance/housekeeping checklist. \nMoves roll-offs, trailers, etc. when requested. \nEnsures that the facility operates in full compliance with its permits. \nEnsures that the personnel follow all applicable procedures and work rules. \nAssists in resolving all problems with the site's fire protection system and perform required inspections. \nReviews and updates assigned Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), Site Plans, and CMS tasks. \nCoordinates and schedules the pumping of liquids into vac tankers and schedules into external facilities. \nAssists in all area as needed. \nPerform other duties as assigned by manager. \n Education / Experience / Background:\nHigh school diploma or GED required\nCollege level courses or equivalent work experience preferred\n7 - 10 years experience in the power industry preferred\n5 - 10 years incineration experience preferred\nTwo years supervisory experience preferred\nKnowledge / Skills / Abilities:\nExtensive knowledge in the following areas: DOT, EPA, RCRA, and OSHA\nKnowledge of the following EH&S functions: First Aid, CPR, Fire Extinguishers, EmergencyPreparedness, Incident Reporting/Incident Investigation, work/safety rules, RCRA Inspector\n\nStrong team player\nExcellent interpersonal and communication skills\nTime management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines\nStrong customer service orientation\nStrong supervisory and leadership skills\nAbility to create & prepare reports as necessary\nAbility to work off-shifts and weekends as requested\nMust demonstrate effective skills in troubleshooting, problem solving and team building.\nPC skills and knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software forpreparing work related reports, charts, graphs and data submittal requirements.
