We're looking for an experienced Multi-skilled Engineer - Mechanical Bias, preferably with steam experience, to work with a key Veolia client. This role involves providing multi-skilled maintenance services, covering both electrical and mechanical disciplines, and delivering reactive and proactive maintenance for all operational equipment as required by the site.\nWhat you'll be doing:\nDeliver planned and reactive maintenance across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and site infrastructure systems to maximise equipment availability and reliability.\nInspect, diagnose, repair and maintain operational plant, including mechanical equipment, electrical systems, control equipment, pumps, valves, motors and associated instrumentation.\nSupport steam and process systems, where applicable, including fault-finding, planned maintenance, repairs and safe operation of steam-related plant.\nCarry out installations, modifications and improvement works, ensuring all activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved procedures and technical standards.\nComplete statutory, compliance and safety-related maintenance activities, identifying and reporting defects, risks or deficiencies that could affect service delivery, health and safety or the environment.\nMaintain accurate records and performance information, including job sheets, maintenance reports, permits, inspection records and KPI data, while liaising with contractors, suppliers and the client as required.\nWhat we're looking for:\nExperience working as a multi-skilled maintenance engineer, ideally within a manufacturing, industrial, utilities, energy, facilities or process environment.\nStrong practical experience with mechanical maintenance, supported by sound electrical and instrumentation knowledge.\nExperience carrying out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive fault-finding on operational plant and equipment.\nPrevious experience of steam systems, boilers, pressure systems or process utilities would be highly beneficial.\nExperience reading and interpreting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and technical drawings.\nExperience working safely within a permit-to-work, lockout/tagout and risk-assessment-based environment.\nExperience working with contractors, external suppliers and client representatives.\nExperience completing maintenance documentation, reports and computerised maintenance management system records.\nExperience working shifts, including days and nights, or within a continuous operational environment.\nSkills & Qualification\n17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.\nNVQ Level 3 in Engineering Maintenance - Multi-discipline, or an equivalent engineering qualification.\nCity & Guilds Level 2 in Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.\nStrong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding ability.\nCompetent electrical fault-finding and basic electrical installation skills.\nAbility to diagnose faults, make sound decisions and restore equipment safely and efficiently.\nAbility to read and understand technical drawings, schematics and maintenance instructions.\nGood understanding of statutory compliance and safe systems of work, including responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.\nGood written and verbal communication skills.\nAccurate and organised approach to completing paperwork, reports and maintenance records.\nAbility to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.\nWillingness and ability to work the required rotating shift pattern, including nights.\nDesirable Skills\nRecognised training or experience in steam, boilers, pressure systems or associated process plant.\nInstrumentation and control systems experience, including calibration and basic control-loop fault-finding.\nExperience with PLCs, BMS, SCADA or other industrial control systems.\nAdditional qualifications in areas such as:Inspection and testing\n18th Edition updates\nPressure systems\nBoiler operation\nConfined spaces\nWorking at height\nLifting and manual handling\nFirst aid\nLegionella or water hygiene awareness\n\nExperience using a computerised maintenance management system, such as Maximo, SAP or similar.\nKnowledge of continuous improvement, root-cause analysis and reliability-centred maintenance.\nFamiliarity with environmental compliance and sustainability requirements within a facilities or industrial setting.\nPrevious experience working on a client site or within a service-delivery contract environment..\nWhat’s next?\nApply today, so we can make a difference for generations to come.\nWe're proud to have been named as one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Work for three consecutive years in 2023, 2024 and 2025.
