You will own the strategy and roadmap for Vercel's observability products, including Runtime Logs, OpenTelemetry tracing, and Drains, which let teams stream logs, traces, Web Analytics events, and Speed Insights metrics into the systems they already use. You will partner closely with engineering and design to help customers understand and debug what they run on Vercel, both through Vercel's native surfaces and through integrations with vendors that support OpenTelemetry. You will report to the product lead and will be located in New York, NY (hybrid).\nIf you’re based within a pre-determined commuting distance of one of our offices (SF, NY, London, or Berlin), the role includes in-office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. For location-specific details, please connect with our recruiting team.\nWhat you'll do\nOwn strategy and roadmap for Vercel's observability products, from telemetry ingestion through the surfaces developers use to debug and monitor.\nTurn ambiguous signal - support escalations, customer interviews, usage data, competitive shifts - into a sequenced plan with clear tradeoffs.\nPartner daily with engineering on scoping, and with design on making dense telemetry data genuinely legible.\nDefine the native-vs-integrate line: what Vercel builds, and where we make Datadog, Sentry, Grafana, Honeycomb, and New Relic work seamlessly.\nWork with Enterprise customers and Sales/Solutions on observability needs that block adoption or expansion.\nOwn pricing and packaging decisions with Finance and GTM - observability is metered, and unit economics are part of the product.\nWrite the launch narrative: changelogs, blog posts, docs direction, in partnership with PMM\nDefine the metrics that tell you it's working, and hold the team to them.\n\nWhat you need\n5+ years in product management, with meaningful time on developer, infrastructure, or data-intensive products.\nYou've shipped something technical enough that engineers treated you as a peer. You can read a trace waterfall and reason about cardinality, sampling, and retention costs.\nComfortable owning a domain end to end without a PM above you translating strategy into work.\nYou use the products you build on, and you have opinions about the ones you don't.\nFluency with data: you write your own queries and don't wait on someone else to answer a usage question.\n\nBonus if you\nHave worked at an observability, APM, or monitoring company, or been the internal power user of one at scale.\nHave shipped AI or agent-facing developer tooling.\nHave owned consumption-based pricing for a technical product.\nAre an active Next.js or Vercel user.\n\nBenefits & Compensation:\nCompetitive compensation package, including equity.\nInclusive Healthcare Package.\nLearn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills.\nFlexible Time Off.\nWe will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a WFH budget for you to outfit your space as needed.\nThe San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $172,000 - $258,000. Actual salary will be based on job-related skills, experience, and location. Compensation outside of San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location.
