You’ll partner with teams across Vercel to build and operate the agentic infrastructure that determines how software actually ships.\nWe’re looking for engineers who want to own high-scale systems end-to-end, thrive on improving the developer/agent experience, and are driven to have a lasting impact on how modern software gets built and delivered.\nWhat you’ll do\nOwn and evolve the infrastructure that powers Vercel’s build and deployment lifecycle - from handling webhooks to designing resilient database schemas and building scalable APIs.\nDesign and operate high-performance microservices that process millions of builds daily, ensuring speed, reliability, and developer delight.\nLead projects end-to-end: from identifying opportunities to defining technical direction and delivering improvements in performance, reliability, and developer experience.\nCollaborate across teams to align infrastructure with company-wide goals and ensure seamless developer workflows.\nShape the long-term vision of agentic infrastructure at Vercel by setting standards for scalability, reliability, and developer productivity.\nParticipate in the on-call rotation, taking responsibility for the reliability of critical systems.\nContribute to the open-source community, representing Vercel’s commitment to advancing developer tools globally.\nWrite clean, efficient, tested, and well-documented code that others can build upon confidently.\nWhat you need\n3+ years of experience designing, building, and operating backend applications and distributed systems at scale.\nStrong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, with the ability to navigate and improve complex systems.\nStrong proficiency with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and infrastructure as code (Terraform)\nA track record of end-to-end ownership - from design and implementation through to long-term operation in production.\nSkilled at cross-team collaboration, able to influence priorities and drive alignment toward shared goals.\nAble to reason about technical direction and architectural tradeoffs, balancing long-term vision with pragmatic delivery.\nInvested in the people around you - through mentorship, code review, or simply raising the bar on how the team builds.\nCurious, eager to learn, and motivated to push the boundaries of how modern software gets built and shipped.\nBonus if you\nAre familiar with React or Next.js\nHave experience with DynamoDB\nHave worked to develop a CI/CD platform or internal developer platform used by other engineers or by agents.\nHave experience contributing to or participating in open-source projects.\nHave experience optimizing build systems for monorepos or polyrepo setups.\nHave experience with build caching, artifact storage, or dependency management at scale.\nBenefits & Compensation:\nCompetitive compensation package, including equity.\nInclusive Healthcare Package.\nLearn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills.\nFlexible Time Off.\nWe will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a WFH budget for you to outfit your space as needed.\nThe base pay range for this role is $196,000.00 - $294,000.00.
