In this role, you will ideate, prototype, and deliver AI-enabled solutions that directly support national security objectives. You will work across the full technology stack - from intelligent backend services and RESTful APIs to modern front-end interfaces - building and maintaining applications that are reliable, scalable, and secure.\nThis is a collaborative, high-impact position that sits at the intersection of generative AI, agentic systems, and full stack software engineering. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth in AI frameworks, proficiency across modern web technologies, and the communication skills to translate complex requirements into working solutions. This is a hybrid position requiring on-site presence 2-3 days per week.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nIdeate, prototype, and deliver AI-enabled solutions in alignment with stakeholders and existing application environments\nDesign, develop, and maintain full stack applications using Next.js, TypeScript, FastAPI, Python, PostgreSQL, and OpenSearch\nUse Pydantic (Python) and Zod (TypeScript) for data validation\nBuild and maintain Docker images and deploy, configure, and troubleshoot applications in OpenShift\nInvestigate and resolve production issues across the user interface, backend services, database, and application deployment\nWork with customers, product owners, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements, identify dependencies, and estimate implementation effort\nParticipate in technical design and code reviews, write automated tests, and maintain technical documentation\nWhat You’ll Bring:\nA bachelor’s degree may be substituted for 4 years of experience, and a master’s degree may be substituted for 6 years of experience\n9 years of relevant experience in computer science, data science, and/or software engineering roles or a highly related field of work with similar scope and responsibilities\nTS/SCI Clearance with Active CI Polygraph\nStrong proficiency with at least 1 generative AI framework including but not limited to: LangChain, Haystack by Deepset, and LlamaIndex, among others\nStrong proficiency in prompt engineering and prompt management\nExperience with developing agentic AI solutions, including MCP, tool development, context engineering, and agent-to-agent (A2A) communication\nStrong proficiency in React.js and TypeScript, including functional components, hooks, reusable component design, and API integration\nStrong experience developing backend services and REST APIs using Node.js or Python\nProficiency with PostgreSQL, including relational data modeling, SQL, schema migrations, indexing, and query optimization\nHands-on experience with Docker, including writing Dockerfiles, building images, and troubleshooting containers\nStrong communication skills and the ability to translate business and customer needs into clear technical requirements\nPreferred:\nExperience with AWS products\nExperience with AI observability platforms such as Langfuse and LangSmith\nExperience developing with agentic AI coding harnesses such as Codex\nExperience with Next.js AI SDK and FastMCP\nFamiliarity with software development within the Department of War\nFamiliarity with Linux environments and Kubernetes concepts\nExperience improving application security, accessibility, performance, and reliability\nExperience working in an Agile development environment and coordinating with product, operations, and security teams\nSalary Range:\n$165,000 - $195,000\nBenefits:\nFlexible Work Environment \nPaid Parental Leave \nMedical \nDental \nVision \nLife and AD&D Insurance \nShort-Term and Long-Term Disability \n401(k) with Company Match \nPaid Time Off + Holidays\nVerdantas strives to develop new ways to increase diversity awareness within our organization.
