At Verdantas, your career goes beyond the expected, and your work helps build a better world.\nReady to shape the future of resilient communities?\nOur growing South Area team is seeking a motivated, talented Staff Scientist II for our Environmental Assessment and Remediation (EAR) practice.\nOur South Area EAR practice focuses on site assessment/remedial investigations and design, environmental regulatory compliance and support, feasibility studies, emerging contaminants, and property transaction due diligence for clients in industrial, power, water, and government end markets. The Staff Scientist II will collaborate with diverse project teams of engineers and environmental professionals to execute and deliver solutions to complex environmental challenges for clients throughout the South Area and across the greater Verdantas footprint.\nWhat You'll Do:\nUnderstand, protect, and promote our empathetic, people-focused culture in all aspects of the business\nWork in a combination of office and outdoor environments. When in an outdoor environment, the employee is subject to walking distances on uneven terrain while wearing personal protective equipment, including but not limited to work boots with safety toes, high-visibility safety vests, long pants, long-sleeve shirts, and hard hats, along with exposure to varying weather conditions typical of Florida and limited heavy lifting\nOutdoor work may require overnight travel, weekend work, out-of-town assignments, early morning starts (before 7:00 a.m.), and/or late departures (after 6:00 p.m.) in accordance with OSHA regulations\nReport to the office when not performing field work\nPerform field tasks and maintain field notes as assigned by project managers and senior technical staff\nConduct drilling oversight and logging of soil borings, monitoring wells, and soil vapor points\nCollect groundwater, soil, sediment, air, and surface water samples for laboratory analysis according to regulatory and company standard operating procedures\nEnter collected data into report format using applicable software and company formatting guidelines\nAssist in preparing regulatory submittals, such as permit applications and work plans\nPrepare technical reports documenting project findings, conclusions, and recommendations\nOperate and maintain remediation systems\nTroubleshoot equipment issues associated with remediation systems, including groundwater and soil screening equipment before and/or during field work events\nOperate a variety of field vehicles, from SUVs to full-size trucks, including towing, following completion of required Verdantas training\nPrepare project-specific Health and Safety Plans (HASPs)\nPrepare maps and other illustrations for data interpretation and presentation\nMaintain Excel databases associated with regulatory compliance activities\nApply basic knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and programs\nWhat You Bring:\nBachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline\n3-5 years of relevant experience\nStrong problem-solving skills and a positive, can-do attitude\nFlexibility and self-motivation, including a willingness to learn new skills\nStrong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, regulators, contractors, property owners, and project team members\nBasic knowledge of federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and programs\nExperience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS Pro, and other mapping software is a plus, but not required\n40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training is a plus, but not required\nMust possess a valid driver's license\nU.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required for access to Department of Defense (DoD) facilities\nAccess to a cell phone with internet connectivity\nSalary Range:\nSalary is commensurate with experience and qualifications of the candidate as it relates to the position description\nBenefits:\nFlexible Work Environment \nPaid Parental Leave \nMedical \nDental \nVision \nLife and AD&D Insurance \nShort-Term and Long-Term Disability \n401(k) with Company Match \nPaid Time Off + Holidays\nVerdantas strives to develop new ways to increase diversity awareness within our organization.
