Learn more at www.verint.com.\nOverview of Job Function:\nWe are seeking a proactive and skilled PostgreSQL Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong focus on automation and operational excellence to join our Database Operations team. This role is responsible for managing and supporting PostgreSQL database environments, ensuring availability, performance, security, reliability, and scalability across business-critical systems.\nThe ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in PostgreSQL administration, database automation, backup and recovery, High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR), cloud database operations, and production support. Experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server environments is desirable as a secondary skill.\nThis position is well suited for someone who enjoys troubleshooting complex database issues, building automation solutions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.\nPrincipal Duties & Responsibilities:\nDatabase Administration & Operations\nInstall, configure, upgrade, maintain, and monitor PostgreSQL database environments to ensure database health, availability, and performance in AWS RDS setup\nManage routine database administration activities, including health checks, maintenance tasks, vacuum monitoring, capacity planning, and performance tuning.\nAdminister database backup, restore, and recovery processes to support business continuity requirements.\nSupport and maintain High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) solutions using PostgreSQL technologies such as Streaming Replication, Patroni, Pgpool-II, or similar solutions. Exposure to Multi-AZ cluster on AWS.\nIdentify and resolve database performance bottlenecks through proactive monitoring and analysis.\nMonitor database performance metrics and implement recommendations to enhance overall system performance.\nSupport database deployments, upgrades, migrations, and patching activities.\nParticipate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.\nProvide operational support for PostgreSQL databases hosted on AWS RDS, Aurora PostgreSQL, or other cloud platforms.\nAutomation & Continuous Improvement (Primary Focus)\nAutomate routine DBA activities to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.\nDevelop and maintain automation scripts using Python, Shell Scripting, Ansible, PowerShell, or similar automation tools.\nBuild and maintain monitoring, alerting, maintenance, backup, and operational automation solutions.\nContribute to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and database standardization initiatives.\nSupport CI/CD implementation and automated database deployment processes.\nIdentify opportunities to optimize operational processes through automation and self-healing mechanisms.\nAssist with database modernization efforts and platform enhancement initiatives.\nSecurity, Compliance & Governance\nAdminister database security, user access management, roles, and permissions.\nSupport database auditing, compliance requirements, and security best practices.\nEnsure database environments align with organizational standards, governance policies, and regulatory requirements.\nParticipate in vulnerability remediation and security reviews.\nSecondary Database Support (MSSQL)\nProvide administration and operational support for Microsoft SQL Server environments as needed.\nSupport MSSQL backup and recovery, database migrations, performance troubleshooting, and HA/DR solutions.\nAssist in maintaining SQL Server security, auditing, and compliance requirements.\n Minimum Qualifications:\n3-4 years of experience in PostgreSQL Database Administration. \nStrong experience with PostgreSQL 13/14/15/16 administration and troubleshooting. \nHands-on experience with PostgreSQL performance tuning and query optimization. \nExperience with Backup & Recovery, database migrations, and HA/DR solutions. \nStrong knowledge of PostgreSQL replication technologies and disaster recovery strategies. \nHands-on experience with cloud database platforms such as AWS RDS PostgreSQL and Aurora PostgreSQL. \nStrong scripting and automation experience using Python, Shell Scripting, Ansible, PowerShell, or similar tools. \nExperience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, pgAdmin, Datadog, OEM, or equivalent. \nKnowledge of Linux administration and database infrastructure management. \nStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nWorking knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2019/2022 administration. \nUnderstanding of DevOps concepts and CI/CD processes for database deployments. \nExperience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, etc.). \nExperience with ticketing and service management tools such as ServiceNow or Jira. \nUnderstanding of ITIL processes and operational best practices. \nPostgreSQL certifications (EDB, PostgreSQL Professional Certification, or equivalent) preferred. \nExposure to containerized environments such as Docker and Kubernetes is a
