This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with modern software engineering practices, including software integration, vulnerability management, automated testing, and CI/CD pipeline development in a big data eco-system. Successful engineers will work closely with team members to master our software and make a positive impact on projects as well as team chemistry.\nThe Person:\nWe’re looking for a highly skilled Senior Engineer who:\nApply “Big Data” solutions to solve real customer problems using web content and traffic data\nDesign, write, test, and maintain object-oriented software for collecting, storing, analyzing and reporting on big data sets, using Java, Python and various open-source technologies\nWork on systems with enormous data processing requirements and ensure all OLAs and SLAs are comfortably met\nPerform all aspects of system verification, including all phases of the testing process\nWork with application architects and developers to define test approaches, success criteria, and testing procedures to ensure quality in data, data processing, and interfaces\nUse industry best practices to deliver high-quality solutions leveraging open-source tools/toolkits and utilities with automated daily builds, tests, and deployment\nCollaborate effectively with cross-functional organizations including system architects, project managers, product managers and operations\nBe a hands-on Engineer and lead by example to earn the respect as an effective technical leader\nFoster a culture of documentation and knowledge sharing across the organization\nTakes ownership and responsibility for organizational practices and processes and their continuous improvement\nLeads incident response across the engineering organization as needed to troubleshoot challenging problems that involve virtual environments, networking, kernel configs, distributed systems\nRequired Skills:\nBachelor’s + 12 years OR Masters + 10 years of relevant work experience\n8+ years of software development experience in a Unix environment\nExpert level programming experience with Java, Python or other equivalent programming language\nExperience with Big Data (Map reduce, Spark, etc) applications and jobs\nExperience with Hadoop, Hive, Kafka, Spark and other Big Data Technologies\nExperience with testing systems from existing system and functional specifications\nExperience with performance testing and tuning of big data jobs\nExperience in data migration methodologies\nExperience with RDBMs, Timeseries DBs and/or NoSQL databases\nExperience working in Linux environment\nExperience with Automation frameworks/systems like Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins\nExperience with Private or Public Cloud environments and Cloud-native application architectures\nExperience working in highly productive team environments employing agile practices\nThis position is based in our Reston, VA office and offers a hybrid work schedule.\nThe pay range is $164,300 - $222,300.\nThe anticipated annual base salary range for this position is noted above, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience.
