The role will work closely with both groups, supporting underwriting databases, sharing knowledge, and contributing to broader data engineering initiatives.\nWhile you'll take primary ownership of proof-of-concept activities, you'll also have the opportunity to learn other areas of the team's work, contributing to a collaborative environment where knowledge sharing and cross-training are encouraged.\n#LI-SD2 #LI-Hybrid\n Leading customer underwriting proof-of-concept (POC) projects from initial request through final delivery\nWorking with customer-provided address data and matching it to unique reference identifiers\nExtracting, transforming, and delivering risk intelligence data including factors such as flood, fire, and burglary risk\nProducing clear data outputs and supporting documentation, including data dictionaries, that allow customers to easily evaluate results\nInvestigating data-quality questions, coverage issues, and customer queries to ensure confidence in delivered outputs\nUsing SQL and Python to extract, manipulate, validate, and prepare complex datasets\nCollaborating with internal stakeholders to understand evolving business and customer requirements\nSupporting and enhancing underwriting data platforms and associated data processes\nWorking alongside the wider team to reduce single-person dependencies through knowledge sharing and cross-functional support\nIdentifying opportunities to automate manual activities within the POC lifecycle\nLeveraging AWS technologies to improve scalability, efficiency, and repeatability of data processes\nContributing ideas and recommendations that improve team effectiveness, data quality, and customer experience\nMaintaining high-quality technical documentation and providing clear project updates to stakeholders\n We're looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with curiosity, initiative, and excellent communication skills.\nYou'll be comfortable working independently, solving problems, and explaining technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of technical knowledge.\nStrong SQL skills with experience querying and manipulating large datasets\nStrong Python experience in a data engineering environment\nExperience building, maintaining, or optimizing data pipelines and data processes\nExperience working with AWS data engineering technologies\nUnderstanding of data quality, validation, and governance practices\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills\nExcellent attention to detail\nAbility to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and confidently\nExperience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders\nA proactive approach to identifying and implementing process improvements\nAbility to manage priorities and deliver work in a fast-paced environment\nPreferred skills\nExperience with AWS Glue\nExperience deploying Python-based data engineering workloads into production environments\nExperience automating data workflows using cloud-native services\nUnderstanding of batch processing, scheduling, and scalable data solutions\nExperience within insurance, financial services, or another data-intensive industry\nWhat success looks like\nIn this role, success is not simply about delivering data.
