supporting insurers, suppliers, police forces and other organisations across the UK and internationally.\nOur platform makes use of modern AWS infrastructure alongside a proven PHP and MySQL technology stack, with a dynamic Angular front end, delivering reliable and scalable solutions to the insurance ecosystem.\nYou will work across the full software development lifecycle, from design and development through to deployment and operational support, working closely with engineers, product managers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes.\nThis role is ideal for developers who take pride in well-maintained, production-grade software, enjoy solving real-world problems, and want to contribute meaningfully to a platform that matters.\nWhat You'll Be Working On\nThe AIS platform supports multiple products used across the UK insurance market, and your work will directly contribute to keeping those products reliable, performant and evolving to meet customer needs.\nYou will work with technologies including:\nPHP-based back-end services and APIs\nAngular front-end applications\nMySQL databases\nAWS cloud infrastructure\nRESTful APIs and third-party integrations\nCI/CD pipelines and automated deployments\nThe work you deliver will help insurers process claims faster, improve decision making and deliver better outcomes for their customers.\nKey Responsibilities\nMaintain, enhance and develop features within the AIS platform\nBuild and support PHP back-end services and RESTful APIs\nDevelop and maintain Angular front-end interfaces\nDesign and optimise MySQL database schemas, queries and stored procedures\nInvestigate and resolve bugs, performance issues and production incidents\nContribute to the design and evolution of platform architecture and shared services\nWork within Agile development processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives\nCollaborate with Product Managers to refine requirements, estimate work and deliver features iteratively\nImplement and maintain automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes\nProvide third-level technical support where required\nProduce and maintain technical documentation\nContribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices, tooling and platform reliability\nQualifications\nEssential Requirements\n3+ years professional experience building and maintaining commercial software systems\nStrong experience developing server-side applications using PHP (Laravel, Symfony or similar frameworks preferred)\nExperience designing and building RESTful APIs and JSON-based integrations\nExperience working with MySQL, including schema design, query optimisation and performance tuning\nFront-end development experience with Angular\nExperience building or deploying applications on AWS cloud infrastructure\nExperience using Git or modern source control systems\nExperience working with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments\nA methodical approach to problem solving, debugging and production support\nA passion for technology and a desire to continuously learn and improve\nHighly Desirable\nExperience working with AWS serverless services (Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway)\nExperience working within Agile / Scrum development environments\nKnowledge of event-driven architecture or message bus technologies\nExperience implementing Test-Driven Development (TDD)\nUnderstanding of software design patterns and clean architecture principles\nFamiliarity with AI development tools or AI-assisted engineering workflows\nExperience working within the insurance or financial services industry\nWhat We're Looking For\nWe're looking for a well-rounded developer who is as comfortable maintaining and improving existing systems as they are building new features.
