For over 30 years, The Legal 500 has been analyzing the capabilities of law firms across the world, turning its attention to in-house legal functions which are driving the legal business forward.\nThe Legal team also offers the ability to continuously grow, with several examples over the past period of moves, growing responsibilities and promotions within the Function.\nJoin us to become one of us - business enablers and essential contributors to sustainable business growth.\nThe Technology team\nOver 1,700 technologists work across Verisure’s three in-house technology and innovation centres in Malmö, Madrid and Geneva, developing and delivering products and services based on insights gained from our daily interactions with customers.\nThe Group Patent Counsel will work closely with these teams and play a key role in supporting innovation, protecting technical developments and enabling the safe and effective deployment of new technologies across the Group.\nResponsibilities\nResponsibilities will include:\nDeveloping and maintaining a strong knowledge of Verisure technologies and strong links with the Verisure Technology and Procurement teams.\nSupporting invention harvesting, invention disclosure processes and close collaboration with R&D teams throughout the innovation lifecycle.\nContributing to the continuous improvement of Verisure’s IP processes and governance, including invention disclosure and incentive frameworks.\nEnsuring that Verisure technical innovations are effectively protected through registered IP, trade secrets, and the appropriate handling of confidential information.\nPreparing, filing, and prosecuting applications for patents, utility models, and registered designs, in conjunction with outside counsel as appropriate.\nProviding freedom to operate assessments and advice to help the Verisure Technology teams avoid infringing third-party IP rights.\nHandling IP infringement and validity assessments, the enforcement of Verisure IP, the defence in relation to claims of infringement of third-party IP, and other related IP actions such as oppositions and nullity proceedings.\nManaging patent watches and other types of patent searches.\nProviding legal advice to internal stakeholders on topics including patents, utility models, registered designs, trade secrets, confidential information.\nDeveloping and managing our global patent, utility model, and registered design portfolios, in collaboration with internal stakeholders and external counsel.\nWorking in close collaboration with business stakeholders to continuously develop and deploy the Verisure IP strategy.\nDeveloping other IP policies and guidelines and deploying them to relevant audiences.\nDeveloping and delivering trainings to business communities to drive a culture of IP within the organization.\nPlaying an active role in transformation initiatives within the IP team.\nReporting both internally and externally.\nContributing to and participating in other activities of the Group Legal function.\nThe successful candidate will be a patent attorney with a proven track record in the field of technical IP.\nIn terms of experience, the ideal candidate will have:\nA patent attorney qualification, preferably the European Patent Attorney qualification together with a corresponding national patent attorney qualification\nAround 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in a fast-paced multinational company or law firm, practicing in areas of technical relevance to Verisure, particularly in complex, system-based technologies combining hardware, software and connectivity, and involving products and services deployed at scale, drawing on expertise across mechanical, electrical and electronics engineering, and telecommunications.\nSome experience providing advice and guidance to business stakeholders, with the ability to grow into more senior interactions\nFluency in English.
