It recruits field and inside sales representatives, contact centre team leaders, security operations analysts, procurement buyers, payroll and controlling specialists and marketing staff, including for its Arlo Europe unit.

Verisure is a leading global provider of professionally monitored security solutions. We are an international company with a start-up mindset: fast, agile, lean, high-performing, and value-driven.

We are currently looking for an experienced Linux/OS Senior Systems Engineer to join our technical team in Madrid. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a highly technical environment where reliability, security, automation, and continuous improvement are at the heart of what we do.

In this role, you will help ensure the availability, security, and efficiency of our services through the administration, optimization, and automation of Linux systems. You will also play an important part in maintaining the high reliability and performance of our applications by:

  • Ensuring compliance with defined quality criteria.
  • Ensuring the effective use of automated deployment tools and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of related processes, documentation, and quality standards.
  • Monitoring SLA compliance based on defined KPIs.

Responsibilities

As a Linux/OS Senior Systems Engineer, you will be a key part of the team responsible for maintaining and evolving our infrastructure. You will work across Linux, physical infrastructure, virtualization, automation, storage, and cloud technologies in an environment where technical expertise and new ideas are highly valued.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Administering physical servers end-to-end, including rack-mounted and blade servers, firmware and BIOS updates, component-level troubleshooting (RAID controllers, NICs, power supplies, memory), and coordination with hardware vendors regarding warranty and support cases.
  • Administering and supporting Linux servers, with a focus on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including software installation, configuration, patching, performance tuning, and capacity management.
  • Managing and monitoring enterprise storage solutions, including Pure Storage, NetApp, and Dell.
  • Implementing and administering virtualization environments (VMware), including hypervisor management, resource allocation, and VM migrations with minimal impact.
  • Developing automation scripts using Ansible, Python, and Shell to simplify and improve operational tasks, from OS provisioning to hardware inventory and health checks.
  • Supporting and managing cloud services within the AWS ecosystem.
  • Applying security best practices and implementing robust security measures across Linux systems.
  • Systematically capturing and maintaining clear, comprehensive documentation of processes, procedures, and best practices to support consistency, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives focused on resource optimization and infrastructure scalability.
  • Responding to incidents and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Participating in project deployments and helping ensure smooth execution.
  • Monitoring system performance and service availability.
  • Providing technical support and expertise to development teams.
  • Participating in 24/7 support shifts as part of the team’s operational coverage.

Requirements

We are looking for someone with strong hands-on Linux and infrastructure experience who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and continuously improving the way things are done.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, or equivalent proven professional experience.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Linux administration (RHEL), including:
    • Core server administration: installations, configuration, patching, performance monitoring, tuning, and capacity management.
    • Hands-on experience with physical server hardware, including installation, firmware/BIOS management, component diagnostics, and vendor coordination.
    • Experience migrating operating system and hardware versions with minimal impact.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in virtualization and scripting. Experience migrating to VCF 9 is considered a plus.
  • Experience with cloud environments, preferably AWS.
  • Programming knowledge in Python.
  • Knowledge of Terraform.
  • Experience using version control tools such as GitHub.

Desirable requirements

It would be great if you also have:

  • Experience working with Agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Ansible.
  • Knowledge of storage systems.
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.

Key competencies

Beyond the technical skills, we are looking for someone who enjoys working collaboratively, takes ownership, and is motivated by building reliable and scalable solutions.

You should demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • A critical eye for service quality, with a drive to identify and implement improvements.
  • A high level of autonomy and proactivity in day-to-day tasks.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies and continuous learning.
  • A genuine interest in technical subjects and infrastructure innovation.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, combined with a strong focus on teamwork and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with a strong sense of collaboration.

Location

The role is based in Madrid.
